There are plenty of them available on the net.Search in Google by mentioning " mpeg to avi converter" and lo and behold,there you're presented more then your mouthful.All are free BUT there is a catch to them.They do conversion job, but restrict the same to time.Like suppose you've a clip of 10 mins duration,the software converts this clip by 50% only, hence for entire conversion you have to purchase the product. But I have found out a different method and continue to utilize the software.You may divide your video clips into smaller clips of less then 5 mins duration by applying razor tool and then convert and later on join them by traditional way in the software you use in the timeline.
