When God spoke to Moses in Exodus chapter 3, Moses asked God his name. The reply that he got was "I AM that I AM". This is considered the name of God, and written "YHWH" in the English alphabet. It is usually transliterated into English as either "Jehovah" or "Yahwah".

The Jews, as a sign of respect, would not speak that name, but rather used the word for "Lord" in its place. This has been carried over to the English translations of the Bible, where the word "LORD" all in capital letters is usually used.

If God/ Jehovah didn't want his children to know his name, IT wouldn't have appeared in the early bibles more than 7 thousand times.
Through the influence of Satan in mans life, it has all but disappeared from the Bible's pages. But rest assured we will carry his name proudly till the end of time. (And beyond?)

The correct pronounciation of The Name is known to only a small handful of people and is never uttered aloud, except to transmit the correct pronounciation from one generation to the next.

Further, God has many names...none of which are ever uttered aloud.

Therefore, it is safe to say that, "Those who say, don't know...and those who know, don't say"
