How would you handle this? About two months ago, I joined our local gym. I pay quite a bit ( about $85.00 a month), and its the only one in town. I have enjoyed it a lot until recently. I feel I get the most when I take the daily classes but within the last two weeks the class sizes have increased from about 10 to over 25! The room the gym uses is small and we are cramped in these rooms. Last night our instructer shut off the only two small fans and told us we needed to sweat more. (one door in the back of the room was open and seemed to be the only circulation in the room, we are in florida and its hot) The instuctors have also been quite rude lately saying things to the participates like, "get moving if you cant keep up why are you here?" and "why did you show up if you cant handle this!", I realize that they are trying to be motivating and I'm keeping up okay, but we have some older women and men in the class that are trying hard. Should I say something or just shutup?

I would definitely speak up but I would do so to the gym owners who hire these instructors on behalf of their gym. I would also do a bit of research and write only positive criticisms of what you think would improve the class (instead of complaining, you make actual suggestions on proper techniques you think would be effective) If you can get others in the class to endorse your feedback, that might help as well.
I can tell you that raising your body temperature does have a thermogenic effect on the body which causes you to burn more calories WHILE you're working out - but the whole point of aerobics is to get you into shape so that your body learns to burn calories from fat during rest. If you get too tired and worn out to finish your exercise properly during class, then this defeats the purpose of your workout. This is one reason why there should be proper circulation in your classroom (among many others - such as oxygen)

Say something. Their attempt at motivation is having the opposite effect. You can't let elderly people get overheated, these fitness instructors have no way of knowing if they have a heart condition, etc. Say something next time it happens. Chances are you'll get some backup. If not, then at least you'll have said something. If things don't change, quit the gym and buy a home gym or treadmill.

I would say something! You are there for exercise and POSITIVE support. It is very hard for us to get motivated and take time out of our days for ourselves. If you are uncomfortable at all it will be harder to convince yourself to workout. You are paying them to use thier facility and it should be enjoyable. It sounds like there is a new manager that has a very military style. You should also speak to other members and get them to speak up also. Chances are you are not the only one who feels this way. You could maybe get a petition together and get some people to sign it. If they think every one will stop going they may change things.

very solid question. in the starting up, congratulations on your weight help. it truly is a surprising success, and that i'm efficient you sense a lot extra valuable well being sensible. u . s . is, as you discuss, foodstuff plan obsessed. in reality, we can go extra and say that we are keen about photo. you may walk into any food market in u . s ., and seem on the girls's magazines interior the checkout aisle. I assure you, the cover of each mag will comprise connection with a pair new fad foodstuff plan, some new miracle foodstuff, some "quick" restoration etc. what's ironic is as a rustic we are getting fatter, yet we've an increasing form of extra information from schmexperts about the thanks to get healthful, shed some pounds, etc. concerning your factor about human beings noticing you. properly, the reality of the count number number is human beings do decide human beings by technique of their seems. They consistently have, and they consistently will. it is a fringe of human nature that we only won't be able to change, and that i do not imagine it truly is restricted to u . s .. As a end, i imagine usually the human beings who're making a large deal about human beings's weight themes in u . s . are those who stand to learn maximum from them: they're those promoting the fast fixes and "miracle" drugs and supplementations - and in a fashion, they're in part to blame for why we are going nowhere quickly well being sensible as a rustic.

Definitely say something. If they continue, go to another gym even if it is out of town.

I would speak to the manager of the place. You're not paying your dues to a drill instructor.
