They really won't last more than a few months, if that. Most surfacep piercings will migrate/reject with time, but because the skin on the wrist is so tight and there is so much movement, they tend to go even faster. That being said, if you want to get it done, just take it out before too long or it'll leave major scars.
Also, to the person above me, there are chest piercings (which I'm really, really tempted to do) which fall in the same line. There is a lot of movement in that area and those don't tend to migrate as much as be torn out because someone wasn't careful.

Most surface piercings will only last an average of about 6 months but there can be long lasting piercings, if done by the right person on the right person.. Rejection rate is VERY high and there are lots of factors that go with it, however there are things that can be done to extend the life of the piercing.
Start by reading the following page and check out its related topics. Educate yourself before you jump into this.

Also, check out safepiercing.org to find certified piercers in your area. You'll want to make sure you find a very skilled piercer to do this because they have proper jewelry and know-how to reduce your risk for problems. Make sure they have pictures of healed piercings and ones that have lasted at least 4 months, definitely longer.
Good luck.

Rejection can start immediately and or start after you think the piercing is healed. For a wrist piercing, I would say a few months maximum before you end up with a lot of scaring.
Look into microdermal implants, if you get two, they look like a piercing, and you have a much better chance of keeping them long term (unlike other implants, the are inserted with a needle and are much easier to remove) Check out BME for more info.

They don't last long so I suggest not getting one. I'm not trying to not encourage to get it it's just that it doesn't last long and it's expensive because you need a serious professional that can get the job done.
