The sandwich, invented in the 18th century by Lord Sandwich [his descendant still in the 'sandwich' business, by the way], is an excellent lunch food. Both ham and cheese are very high in vitamins and proteins.
Try this heart attack special - cheese, ham, spam, bacon and salami. Don't blame me!

It is advised now that we have a high protein lunch, but sandwiches are the most convenient op ton for most try different fillings and increase the protein double up on the filling . The cheeses can be fattening ,But its never stopped me because Alike cheese . Do you like Avocado , Walnuts etc , Try those as an alternative Be adventurous give your palate a pleasant surprise

Cheese has a lot of fat in it.
Try wholemeal bread, only a little margarine, then ham, and then put tomato or lettuce or whatever salad you like on it.
If your worried about vitamins - take a supplement. Boots do a multi vit and mineral all in one and more often than not they have it on 3 for 2.

Add some salad, chopped tomato, peppers, onion and make the sandwich on brown bread that would help. Also don't use the prepacked ham or cheese slices. They are full of added nasties!

A sandwich can be a healthy lunch, but it would depend what you put in it, and also what bread you use, I use wholemeal brown bread, two slices fill it with lettuce cucumber tomato, either sliced chicken breast, lean ham, tuna, prawns, or egg, a little mayo, no butter or marg, with that i have a yogurt, and a piece of fruit, plus a glass of water.

Cheese has loads and loads of calories and is really fattening. However it also contains calcium which is good for bones and teeth etc. Sandwiches can be deceptively high in fat and calories and are not always the healthy low fat option you would think they are. I would probably say that sandwiches that contain oily fish like tuna on brown or wholegrain bread would be quite healthy though.
