Undergraduate means they don't have a bachelor's degree. Graduate studies means they are working on their masters degree.

Those attending graduate schools are called graduate students, or in British English postgraduate students.
In some educational systems, undergraduate education is post-secondary education up to the level of a Bachelor's degree.

In Canada, undergraduate refers to post-secondary students who have not yet received a Bachelor's degree. Graduate refers to students who have a Bachelor's, who are working on a Master's level. Postgraduate refers to students working at the PhD or advanced studies level.

The DIFFERENCE between "undergraduate" and "postgraduate" is that undergraduate candidates have not yet received the bachelors degree, (BA, BSc, BEd and so on),the "graduate" degree is also known as the Masters, (MA,MBA MSc, etc) while "postgraduate" refers to a degree gotten after (hence post- ) the Masters degree, and is known as the Doctoral degree (PhD).Anyone who earns the PhD needs all due respect- take it from me, they've honestly earned it (and my Dad earned two PhDs in his lifetime! )

Undergrad = Before graduation
Postgrad = After graduation
Graduation = College education and receiving a degree [a bachelors' degree]
Bachelors' degree = 4 years [maybe less maybe more] in college majoring a certain subject.
In certain fields of study such as medicine & Law, you need to have a 'pre-undergrad degree to get into college. It isn't a bachelors' degree.
