I'm 14, and I'm leaving in about 2 weeks to help rebuild a school in Yogyakarta. Are there any injections or drugs I should have? Excluding malaria tablets...

Thanks x

Yogyakarta is in Indonesia by the way. On the island of Central Java. And I only found out I was going a week ago.

You will need to check your immunisation status first, are you immunised against HepB etc previously? you will need immunisation against hep A at least but that should have happened earlier. You will also need prophylactic antibiotics against malaria and other common vector-born infections. Typically Doxycycline is used, but check with your local doctor as this class of antibiotics can affect teeth development in adolescents and probably will require a substitute (depending on local antibiotics guideline)

I do not know where this place is, but regardless you need to need to have begun vaccinations a month ago. I suggest you call your health clinic asap.
