I think it is authentic.
I don't necessarily find all Chick tracts to be good witnessing, but that is beside the point.

Although hell is real, and it is part of the Gospel, because people need to know what they are being saved from, it is also necessary to balance the Gospel with God's grace and mercy and love toward us.
He who wins souls is wise - and anyone who tells of the message of the Gospel is a life saver!

If someone actually believes that about Chick tracts, I feel sorry for them. Those things are cheesier than the worst B-grade movie. And, quite frankly, I find attempting to "scare" someone into religion to be a very disgusting act.

What is a Chick Tract? There is no such thing as God! I'm not scared of going to Hell, or whatever people may think is out there for me when I die. If God exists, He HAS to forgive me, otherwise He's a hypocrite!

I personally do not like chick tracts at all. Because
- A lot of the doctrine that they tell is definitely not Biblical or really exaggerated
- Scaring someone from hell is not the best way to go, Its better to love people into heaven.

I disagree with any "turn or burn" hell fire and brimstone tactic. It is contrary to the great comission. In Mark 16:15, Christ told us to go into all the world and preach the "gospel"
What is the Gospel? It is the good news of the saving grace and love of Christ. Christ didnt preach hell and doom when he met tax collectors, whores, and others that were considered corrupt. He preached a message of hope, love and eternal life.
Hell is real, but it should not be preached to scare people into the arms of Christ. All this does is it causes people to get a basic "fire insurance" policy, and does not promote a true relationship with Christ.

I honestly hope it's sarcasm. Chick tracts are the worst "witnessing tool" I've ever seen. Contrary to my beloved atheist friends who laugh at them and know that atheists don't convert that way, I've seen them used specifically to target children (hence the comic book format) and scare them into believing in christ because of it.

I have never heard of nor seen "Chick tracts," and cannot comment on the authenticity of the comment upon them. I can only say that it is rather poorly written.

Unfortunately, there are people out there that really believe Chick tracks. I have a Christian bookstore near me that sells the things as a 'good teaching tool'.
Anyone can be fooled - and once it happens they don't want to know anything else.
All one has to do is look into the background of Chick's 'sources'. That right there shows the veracity of his work. Unfortunately most people wont put that much effort out, and instead chose to believe whatever is given to them.
