Because only the bad incidents are covered in the media. The good things aren't newsworthy. oh Peachy, they are wanabees. They want to be of service to the people who live there, it takes commitment and compassion, which you do not have. Not all nursing homes are bad, you have to research and visit to get the best.

To much neglect, why should a patient lay there in a bed and their lungs fill up with fluid and nobody even notice, because it is neglect, my husband is a paramedic and he picks up patients from the nursing home all the time, by the time somebody calls an ambulance the patient is already deathly sick, you have good people working in a nursing home but not enough of them, it is a shame, and sad.

Guilt, they know they were probably in neglect to care for their elderly. Older people act like children again, and workers act like this is not serious enough to pay attention to.

Because there is a prevalence of neglect and abuse in them. Simple. Many of their employees are low paid wannabes who have an attitude problem. How many have you visited? How many patients have you talked to? I've seen many, and talked to many folks about their care in them. One lady was scared to death and begged me to take her out. No, she wasn't crazy... quite lucid, actually, just genuinely scared.
