Could you have a relationship with a man whose sport could cripple or kill him? I have just realised how dangeous motorbike racing is and am doubtful if whether guys like this should settle down , if they are so carefree about dying for their passion- what are your thoughts?

You could get hit by bus tomorrow, and if it is his passion, then you should support him and he will love you even more for it.

I have a great friend who use to do extreme motorbike stuff, but as he has got older the racing has stopped but his passion has not and he uses this in other ways that make his girlfriend very happy.

Well Im personally involved in a high risk sport myself and I have had boyfriends worry about me in the past - but my answer to them would be similar to your boyfriends to you - these sports are our passions - we live for them - and whilst there is a danger involved- we do try and protect ourselves in the best way possible!
Of course its a worry for you - but the way I would tell you look at it is - there are paramedics on standby - should he take a fall he will be cared for instantly. You cant worry about fatal or crippling accidents for the simple fact that you yourself could have that happen to you crossing the road today!
Life is too short to be worrying about what ifs..... try and put your worries to the back of your mind hun
xx

My x hubby was a racing driver (cars, not bikes). Many yrs before I met him he was involved in a v nasty accident (nearly killed himself) while his Mum & (then) wife was watching. They were so shocked they forced him into retirement. But when I met him it was so obviously something he was passionate about I gave him my backing to take it up again. & yes, there were accidents, he ended up with broken ribs, being k'o'd but if you don't live life to it's fiullest y live @ all? Yes it's a worry, but support your bloke. If you make him give it up he'll be miserable & if you give him up you'll be miserable, all based on a what might happen scenario.

If you love someone, you accept what they love.

Everybody worries about the health of their partner, you're no different, it's just that what you worry about is much more obvious.

Find a way to support him and to deal with your worries without affecting your mental health.
