I just downloaded Knoppix the file I downloaded is KNOPPIX_V5.1.1CD-2007-01-04-EN.iso
is this the only file I need to download and burn?

Should be the only one necessary to "boot" once booted you may find you need additional drivers.

You need to burn it with a burnning program that makes ISO images.

I use burnnow for that but what you use is depending you your system.

Yes, burn it using Burn->CD Image File. The command may vary in your software, but it should be something similar to that.

yap, burn this image onto a CD and try to boot from it.
