It can mean that he's just polite.
I really like it when my significant other does things like carry heavy things for me, opens the door, makes sure that I get to my car safely, scrapes the ice from my windshield. I think it's really sweet and it lets me know he cares enough to do nice things.

It depends who the girl is, but generally it just means that the guy has been taught good manners. Something which is rather lacking in society today.

Not necessarily. It could mean that he wants to give special treatment to ALL women, just because of their gender. This practice should be abolished.

I would consider it being polite-its better than letting the door slam into someone's face!
It doesn't necessary mean he likes her.

preserving the door would nicely be an illustration of chivalry, yet for me this is purely an illustration of courtesy and unselfness. it is not correct who you carry it for. appreciate for elders is a loss of life characteristic too. a woman would desire to strategically place herself so a guy would desire to absolutely open or carry the door for her.

I never ever ever open a door for a women unless she's earned it. Like really earned some how. Otherwise she can open the door for me and maybe buy me a few drinks, i dunno.
