Yes he was the original dark destroyer. As a pro he stopped his first 22 opponents by ko or tko.He is imo one of the best fighters England has ever produced.
Just out of interest why has Keith gone off on one?

Yeah Nigel Benn was the original and to my knowledge still currently the only boxer to have the dark destroyer nickname. Its a good nickname though im sure someone else will use it soon.

Benn was a solid boxer, whose career will always be overshadowed by the McClellan tragedy. Boxing trivia pales to the memory of that clash of heads and what it did to Geralds life and Detroit area boxing. No knock on Benn, it was accidental, but it makes it difficult to write about even now.

He was the dark destroyer in his day alright. I recall him having a 12second win by ko in one of his early fights.
