In alot of areas Nix and other solutions have become useless. If there is no other recourse, do what I did. Cover the hair with Vaseline very thickly, rub it in really good. Then, place a plastic bag over the scalp and seal it on the head. Leave this on for a day or two, then remove and wash the hair. Blowdry the hair and look for signs of lice. If still apparent then repeat. This does work as lice need air to survive, the vaseline actually smothers them! I've done this on my daughter and it worked!

Change to a different brand. Plus, use the tiny fine toothed comb that usually comes with the product.
Daily inspection of her hair, visually by you, this will take 30 -40 minutes. Look for the small white eggs (or black) that still remain stuck to the hair shafts. Pick them off with your finger nails. These eggs are laid and hatch within 10 days I've heard, so be patient and very observant for 10 days.
DAILY INSPECTION... that's the key.

Don't overlook the fact that eggs coould be on her pillowcase and bedding. A HOT wash and HOT dryer will kill eggs and adults. Do this 3 times a week to be extra sure.

When you use the product LEAVE IT ON the hair for even longer periods than recommended.

Good old fashioned conditioner, when my sister and i were younger we just to catch them all the time, no prodcuts work, just wash her hair with shampoo then add LOTS of conditioner and leave it in. Then get a lice comb and comb through keep checking the brush to make sure u getting them then do that for 3 days and they should all be gone.

If her hair is long have her put her hair up during the day because the sometimes can all culumate in the hairband

Hope this helps

Good luck

You can go to the Dr and they will give you a prescription for this. You will also need to wash all the bedding, vacuum and spray down all of the chairs, couches, floor, etc. that your daughter has sat on. You have to go through her closet and rewash all of her clothes, vacuum and spray down the seats in the car. Any toys, stuffed animals, coats, etc, that your daughter has touched or worn needs to be washed or put in bags for two weeks, You will also need to put her pillows in to a big plastic bag and seal the bag then put a clean pillow case over the top. Cleaning up the correct way from lice is a lot of work, . There is a spray to spray on furniture, floors, chairs, car seats, mattresses, pillows, stuffed animals, toys, but after I spray and vacuum them I still wrap them up and put them away for two weeks. Good Luck.!!!

Place all affected items into a bucket of kerosene, including her hair. Then, rince well, then wash repeatedly, till the smell is gone.

This was needed about once a year when I grew up in Los Angeles, and worked every time.

We were poor, and folks, the poor have the best solutions to most common challenges...believe it or not.

you can go to your doctor and they will prescribe something that can get rid of them for you. also make sure to comb all the nits out of her hair. if you put olive oil in the hair and let it set and take a extra finetooth comb through it they comb out a lot easier. then wash her hair with regular shampoo. also wash all her bed covers, hats, etc. also if she cuddles with stuffed animals seal them in a trash bag for two weeks. you can also buy spray for the furniture and carpet.
