Holidays in Barbados with 4 year old child?

I love the carabbean islands and can't wait to return there on holidays. Trouble is now I've got a 4 year old boy and I wonder if the 8 hour flight is going to be hell, and if he is going to cope with time difference. What is your opinion. Do you think I should wait for a few more years ? Have you had a similar experience? Thanks

I have two suggestions:

1) Wait until your child is 8 or 10 or 12, depending on the child's maturity.

2) Don't say "Trouble is now I've got a 4 year old boy" ... it's not trouble, it's just different. Your life will change for a while, but it's not "trouble!"
