One of the obvious signs of mental illness is wanting to marry someone we think has a mental illness. The bad characteristics you see in your fiance will only get worse over the years. Who wouldn't look forward to years of walking on eggshells to avoid a moody mate. What woman doesn't look forward to watching her children cower when daddy is feeling angry?

Insist your fiance get into some kind of counseling BEFORE you marry him.

Yes, you cannot diagnose him yourself and will need a proper psychiatrist to do so.

But here are some signs and symptoms you should look for: The frequency or cycle of these mood swings. There's a psychiatric condition called Bi-Polar disorder and you can find a lots of facts about it on www.bipolar.com. The info there is genuine.

If the condition is not as acute to be classified as a BPD, your fiancee might have some psychosis, which is related to hormonal swings in the brain. They can be treated simply through counselling by a shrink and sometimes, inexpensive medication.

You can help him by simply assuring that you'll be there for him, whatever happens and by persuading him to seek professional help. Remember, mood swings are normal for most of us, but if they go to extremes, they can cause severe problems for those around and the person. At worst, it can cause a person to commit a heinous crime.

Use your own mentality and start thinking about the future he probably will get worse as he gets older and has the normal stresses of family life.Do you really want that. It would be better to walk away now not when you can no longer stand it in the future.
