I'm not implying that there is no afterlife, but to put more value on the next life? when you reach the next life will it not become 'this life' once again, won't you just end up living for tomorrow instead of embracing today?

Male1905: If it's a test it would be impossible for any oniscient higher power to exist, because a god who needs to test is not omniscient. Even in our dreams we are able to see part of our future, which means us humans are more knowledgeble than the gods, but there are plenty of gods who can fortell your future, so life could not be a test then.

The whole concept of an 'afterlife' is any oxymoron anyway. There is nothing 'after life' - when you're dead, you're dead - that's what death means.

I would'nt say it is putting the afterlife as being more valuable but, as was said it is the future residence of our soul and we are required to earn our place there.
To do so involvles that which you speak of, embracing the here and now and living a full and responsible life. To say be aware of the after is not to say forget today, it is to say cherish today and live today well and the after will be so much sweeter. The term after is just the relative term to describe when it is. It may not be the last just as this life may not be the first. Yes death may be the end of it all, but a little faith in something greater never hurt. If death is the absolute end then at least there will be no disappointment.
This does not always have to have anything to do with specific religions, just your outlook on life and what is to come.

Very good question.
We have wasted infinite human lives, in whiling away our precious time in looking after the sensual desires of our body.
The trick is to understand that we are not one but two. One is we, the body ( perishable), and one is we, the soul (eternal). While we have taken care for the body part, we have ignored completely the soul part. That is foolish, because we have cared for the perishable, and left the soul which is our actual self, to suffer.
The fact of the matter is that our this body is important because it is in this human body only that God has fitted the necessary instruments, which on being activated, can make our this life as also the afterlife contented for all the times eternal.

you are SO right! Too many christians wave their after life salvation around like a little flag when originally we were meant to live forever, it was 'life' Jesus came to bring yet SOME christians in their inability to confront their present enviroment, ever so covertly, seek to succumb to the desire of death. it just don't figure.

You're close...there is no "after". Life is life, in the physical or out of it. It is all the same. There are no divisions. Simply a change of focus, an awakening to who and what we really are, beneath our illusions. We are free.

it is very wrong to think of putting an afterlife before this one.we are all going to the same plain when we pass over.forget the views and scare tactics of the church.they dont have the monopoly on life and death.even though they like to think they do.

We should focus on this life more, since it is the one we can do something about.
