i'm pretty sure that if I died in my room with the door closed that no one would notice for at least a week, even my parents. eventually my parents might start to notice the smell, but i'm pretty sure they wouldn't notice i was missing. if i died someplace else away from home then they might not ever notice except if someone happened to find the body and the police managed to find my parents.

If I died at home with the door closed I would be found within 6-8 hours depending on the time of day.
I doubt it would take your parents a week to notice you were missing. They are probably much more aware of your comings and goings than you know. If you went missing they would call the police.
You feel like no-one cares and keep reaching out for help you push away. If you are doing that on here I expect you're doing it at home too - your parents are probably very worried about you. Why don't you try talking to one of them about how you've been feeling?

I have to admit that your question made me giggle a little. Not because I think it is funny. I realize it is serious. It's just that I asked my husband the same thing. lol Except we said how long if all of us died at the same time. Because if only one of died the other who lives here would find us. but if we all died I'd say it would be at least a week or maybe even more before my mom would come visit and get the door open. Some months it may be 2 or 3 weeks before mom would come visit. Noone ever visit's us much, we don't have many friends who really care much, I have 3 sisters non inwhich ever come to visit, 1 brother who has only been in my house..... umm NEVER, and my dad has only been to visit us maybe 2 times. All of them live within 2 miles away from us. So yea.. I know the feeling that you are feeling. It sucks.
What helped me is just not even thinking of other careing for me. I have made myself strong within myself. I have tryed to be close to my family but it hasn't worked. So now I am happy for myself and my family here at home.

If you desire a better attention from your parents, then pal death is not the ultimate solution! You’ve done your best still if you feel that you aren’t getting the required love & care whether it be your parents or your fiancée, then why the hell you trouble yourself at all bothering about those uncaring & heartless people?
Remember, due to your death, you are the only loser and not anyone else! Even the people because of whom you’re going to commit suicide, might forget you or your death completely in a couple of days or months or years because time is a very good healer ! But, to win life right in front of their eyes is tougher than dieing !
Well, if you still want the reply to your qn., a dead body requires about 6 to 10 hours to start the process of decomposing depending on the age of the deceased ! The smell or the stink is a pretty advanced stage of decomposing which happens in about 40 hours after a person has died, if the person is young.

That's very sad. I wonder whether you have talked to them about this feeling, or whether you have been hostile toward them with a 'leave-me-alone" attitude which they have unfortunately accepted.
As for me, I live alone so it depends on what day it was. My boss would try to call me within an hour of my sceduled start time; my fiends and family would start calling within a day or so, and eventually come by and, seeing my car, try knocking at the door. I don't know how long it would take, but less than three days, I'm almost sure.

I think the real question here is, why are you thinking about this issue? Are you planning on ending your life? Or are you just trying to see if you would receive the attention you're seeking from your parents by contemplating this? Perhaps you should speak with a counselor and see if he/she can help you with your problems.

If I died right now it would be a matter of minutes before I was found. My wife is a very light sleeper. She would hear me hit the floor.

Marry an Indian Woman........ she will never leave you alone (out of possessiveness) and if at all you die it would be because of her (so she knows when you die).
