Dear Friend,
I think of several passages in the bible when i see this question.
Matthew 24:The Day and Hour Unknown
36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
And
1 Thessalonians 5:2
for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
We have to be watchful and aware that many biblical prophesies are now being fulfiled.
God Bless

The Lord says very clearly that no one knows the time of His second coming and we should be always alert. And no one can understand perfectly what is written in the Book of Revelation, because it uses a symbolic language. It is not wise to cling to every word written in that book. Note that in the first centuries of Christianity that book was not a part of the canonical Bible. And now also in some traditional Churches (for example, the Greek Orthodox) which have that book in their Bible they do NOT read any chapter from that book in the church.

God said no man shall know the day nor the hour, but people started trying to figure it out almost immediately after the Lord went home to the Father.
One thousand years are as one day to God.
While Christ was here he said these are the last days(plural days)
So if a thousand years are as one day to God, we are only in the very early part of day two in Gods time.
What is your hurry?

One day to the Lord is like a thousand years. We don't "need" Jesus to return now or in the next thousand or two thousand years. We have him in our hearts and souls Here and now. He told us "I am with you always" and "Never will I leave you and Never will I forsake you". He doesn't have to "show himself" to know he is with us in our hearts and souls. It's easier to believe in what the world has to offer because it's tangible. Having faith, hope and love and"stepping out of the boat" is what it's all about, and we are blessed because of it. I've looked at so many fallicies and lies this world offers and none compared to what faith and love in Jesus has done in my life. Though others may persecute me for my love in Jesus, I am blessed because of it. No statues or animals or rituals will replace the promise he gave us. Though Heaven and earth may pass away, his word shall remain. We aren't giving up the promise he gave us, because nothing the world has to offer will ever compare. Those of us that say the glass is half full already got it figured out.

What does it matter to you what I believe?
You're trying to disprove something that can only be proved spiritually and in the heart.
I know that the second coming will be soon! But I don't know when, so I keep watch!
God Bless

He did return. Let us hope it will not take Christians as long as the Jews to recognize Him.

God even if He descends today, will not be perceived by our worldly eyes.
God has already incarnated, but our intellect is coming in the way of comprehending Him.
The challenge is to all of us and not to Christians only!

Betty,
HIS death, burial, resurrection, and ascension was witnessed by many people. As a result, we await HIS return. True Christians will await HIS arrival until HE returns. HE did not promise when HE would return only THAT HE WOULD! Only GOD knows that time. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

You misinterpret Luke's Gospel. Not that you are the first person to do it. Jesus was referring to the generation that sees those things he described before that verse. Just so you know.
EDIT: OH! I'd better answer your question. You won't catch me looking away! I'll wait even unto my death for His promises. All His promises.
