As a Follower of God, I often get asked this question.... Why? Why does God allow this? Why does God allow suffering to happen to good people?
And like Jesus I have to take a deep breath and *sigh.*
The answer is not an easy answer to give (But there is an answer, It is the on the cross.) The answer is complex because God is so complex. But I say to everyone there is a purpose behind suffering. I say to everyone try to find the beauty in the suffering.
I would recommend a person read the entire Book of Job in the Old Testament or the Torah beacuse Job really suffered a lot. And read in the New Testament The Gospel Of John chapter 5: verses 1-15 about the lame man & John chapter 9: verses 1-41 about the man born blind. Also in Matthew, Mark, Luke & John read about the passion of Jesus and his suffering on the cross. Ask yourselves, why would any man embrace their suffering? Christ did.
“For You are not a God who takes pleasure in any wickedness; No evil dwells with You.” - Psalm 5:4
“For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!” - Ezekiel 18:32
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11

If you were to read the Bible God stated that suffering, pain, and death was to be mans fate for his sins. Why does everyone think that God would only allow a perfect world? That would be heaven. God repeatedly states he is a vengeful God. Man and mans sins are what is causing death and suffering. God created a perfect earth and let us run it. We have not done well.

is it God that is doing the killing and destruction? or is us human? what responsiblity do we have, or have we taken? what have we, as human kind done to improve the earth, this beautiful gift that was given to us that we have ruined with pollution, war, hunger, famine, racism, and it goes on and on. to approach this from a spiritual point of view, it was never God's intention for the world to be the way it is. Humans fell and this is the repercussion and also the devil is rampant and in this world and in control, and that explains all this chaos. he is in control only for now though.
this is my opinion, of course.

God is in control to those who wanted to be controlled. If you yourself decided to live your own life, then God will not stop you from doing it. In the Bible, He gives us a selection, and not just that.. He also recommends something ...
Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
"therefore choose life, that both thou and they seed may live". No further explaination is needed. Amen!

God gave man dominion over the earth therefore it's man's problem to solve & alas too few christians will take up their stewardship over it & help solve alot of issues whether by their actions, or in their prayer lives they are asking God to deal with it while they sit on their a**. (by the way, i am a christian).

I did once believe in God up until I was 13 when I found my 8 week old baby nephew dead, from that day onward I said to myself THERE IS NO GOD and I feel I said it with good reason.

Why are you concerned about children? Is it that you are going to live in this human body for ever and ever.
An untimely death of an elder also should bring sorrow to us.
There is no time frame for life. The task is to worry for ourselves, and accomplish our duty before the death comes, which is round the corner.

Life on this planet is God's gift to us. When we screw it up, it is absurd to blame God.
You need to take some personal responsbility yourself. Until we all do that, one at a time, nothing will change.

Cue free-will nonsense from the Christians.
Children die because nature does not care one way or another. Babes in arms have no free-will.
