max sailboat speed is the square root of the waterline length times, say, 1.2.........so lets say 25 foot lwl is 5; x 1.2= 6 knots

thats MAX..........4 knots or maybe a hundred miles a day is the best you can hope for......

without looking at a chart I think NZ > Sydney is 1400 miles........so two weeks minimum......three weeks plus if you have northerly or northwesterly winds
