It's fake.

There are literally thousands of emails like this. There is not a day goes by when someone doesn't post a similar question on Yahoo! Answers. If they had all won Yahoo! would be bankrupt by now!

These scam emails typically want either some personal information or some money from you to process your prize. If you send them either, they will use this information to try to rip you off.

You can report the email address if it is something @yahoo.com or @yahoo.co.uk. That way they will close the account.

There is not a lot you can do to track the email. It's just some loser sitting in a basement somewhere who made up the email and is sending it out. He's probably masking his IP address and will be tough to trace. Even if you could find him, he could be anywhere in the world, including countries that couldn't care less about identity theft.

It's annoying, but probably the best thing to do is mark it as spam and move on.

Yahoo does not run a lottery. It is a well known internet scam. They will try to get money and/or personal information.

You can't win a lottery that you don't enter.

Good luck trying to get an anonymous scam artist from another country into court.

Just avoid. Mark as spam and move on. You'll get more of them.

Look in the mirror. Sucker is written all over your forehead if you get caught up
with this. There are scams and hoaxes all over the place. These people have a
purpose--separate people from their money. You can't possibly believe this is
for real??

I get them all the time, I would be a multi millionaire if they were all true. Spam them and move on.
