I am about to start something new with an old friend. Neither of us want a relationship yet, but I don't like the idea of either of us sleeping around with other people at the same time. I want some sort of monogamus relationship, but I don't need all of the expectations of a real relationship. More of a friends with benefits, without seeing other people, and it doesn't have to go anywhere. How do I tell him what I want before we start anything?

I just don't like the idea of sleeping with someone at the same time as someone else is. I still feel we both should feel free to explore other options, but not at the same time.

Boy does your e-mail smack of control and selfishness issues.

You want "friends with benefits" status with "monogamous" overtones?

No such animal! The kingdom hasn't created that yet!

You are a CONTROL FREAK and you know it!
