I know they are poisonus, but what if you have a gun or a shovel to kill it with and you don't actually touch it

manjunith if you live in Australia and know the damage they cause and how quickly they breed (like rabbits) we want to get rid of them. They were intorduced to Australia to eat insects but then that plan failed.

I think it would be good to reduce the population of cane toads since they are not a native animal and cause havoc with the indigenous animals of Australia but not take the species out completely. They could be taken back to where ever they came from. I know that sounds daunting and it probably won't be able to do but Tasmanian Devils eat them and die and we need to save the Tazzies as they are one of the endangered species of Australia.

I think there is a documentary about them called "Cane Toads" and the main guy drives around all over the place in his Jeep swerving all over the road running over toads. Like someone said before it doesn't do much to try killing them all, they are so abundant that their numbers are not affected much.

Its a funny documentary, especially since the toads "POP" when he hits them...BTW Im an animal lover, but the cane toads are invasive and need to be eradicated to save the native species.

As cane toads are an introduced pest in Australia, there is nothing stopping you from killing every one you see - in fact, certain councils sometimes pay money for each dead toad.
The only problem is that this does almost nothing to their population - you can try to kill every toad in your area but all you have to do is miss a single pregnant female and you're back to square one.

No, you should not kill. They eat insects, which causes harm to plants, and it is food to other reptiles. In animal kingdom one depends on another. It is natures way of balancing. Humans are not expected to interfere it.

I have seen so many web. sites talking about killing them and none of the sites said anything about it being illegal, so I would probably just do it. I you are worried about it go to your local authority and ask; it is better to be safe than sorry.
