I bought (stole) an amp from my buddy for a loan he would not pay back. I have heard this thing can pump out about 900 watts, but it's only a 100 watt amp. How do I get it to deliver all those watts hidden inside? The amp is an Orion 250 HCCA. There are no speaker terminals on this one.

Definitely a champ. this amplifier was good for competition and car show the reason besides this been a great amplifier is that
it is rated at
@ 4 Ohms: 50W x 2 rms so you will competre on the 100 w class
@ 2 Ohms: 100W x 2
@ 1 Ohms: 200W x 2
@ .5 Ohms: 400W x 2
mono bridge@ 1 Ohms: 800W x 1 rms

Is it red? If so, then you have yourself an old-school Orion 250HCCA. Definitely a good amp. Definitely a champ.

You bring out the 'hidden' wattage by hooking up more speakers. The amp will put out more watts as long as there are speakers to be driven. It is stable down to .5 ohm -- so as long as you don't put too much speakers, you'll be ok. For example, it can handle 4 dual voice-coil subwoofers wired in parallel.

Depending on the exact model of your amp, you'll need a plug -- you get these from ebay:

I agree, if you have the Red 250HCCA thats an awesome old-school competition amplifier. It has no current limiting so if you do overload it, it will fry and cost you $$ to fix it. But they can be fixed. So be reasonable with your ohms, and you'll be very happy. I had one running a pair of CerwynVega 12" DVC (dual voice coil) subs and it out-pounded guys with twice the systems i had.

If you have the 'regular' Orion 250 amp (black), you can still run it 2ohms with impressive results on a pair of 4ohm subs or a single Dvc. Same deal with overloading; they will blow up but can be fixed. In either case a .5Farad cap is a good idea.

Very good. Get a 2 ohm dual voice coil sub that can handle a ton of power and wire it in parallel connected to the amp bridged.

A very nice amp. Wish they still made those, I'd get one. I had one with 4 12's in my Nissan Pathfinder in 01' won many bass competition with it. No one but me understood where the power came from. Definitely a keeper.
