Why does God, if indeed he exists, send you to hell for all eternity if you don't believe in him? Would it not be sort of petty and hating (e.x. if you don't like me then I'll grab your hand and put it on a stove)?

Now, now,

God wont send you to Hell JUST because you did not believe. You have to be worthy of Hell to go there. It is just. Inasmuch as a person who goes to Heaven is worthy of it because of what he's done in his life. Even if you are a believer of God, you might still go to Hell, if you are deserved the punishment of Hell.

Now as an all just being, there are varying degrees of reward and punishment. If you were the WORST, CRUELEST serial killer who was an abuser of everything and blah blah blah, and never gave a D@** about what you did to others at ALL, you will deserve a punishment worthy of your actions as it is only fair. Like wise, a guy who lived a very kind, loving and caring-for everyone life and loved even his enemies will probably get a reward better than some guy who sat in a corner all day staring at the TV.

1. Allah (SWT) 'God' is only 'One', has no partner or son, and neither gives birth, nor is He born. He is eternally besought by all and has no beginning or end, and none is equal to Him (Holy Quran example)
2. He is the Merciful and the Compassionate, the Guardian and the True Guide, the Just and the Supreme Lord, the Creator and the Watchful, the First and the Last, the Knowing and the Wise, the Hearing, and the Aware, the Witness and the Glorious, the Able and ' the Powerful. (Holy Quran example).
3. He is the Loving and the Provider, the Generous and the Benevolent, the Rich and the Independent, the Forgiving and the Clement, the Patient and the Appreciative, the Unique and the Protector, the Judge and the Peace. (Holy Quran example). The question of Allah's (SWT) 'God' existence has preoccupied men's minds for many centuries. Those who believe in Allah (SWT) 'God' seem to agree that the limited finite human intelligence cannot prove the existence of the infinite boundless of Allah (SWT) 'God'. It can only illustrate or demonstrate his existence to the satisfaction of the curious human mind.
Those who deny Allah's (SWT) 'God' claim to rely on science, philosophy, or special theories of knowledge. Their arguments are sometimes inapplicable, sometimes irrelevant, always complex, and often incomprehensible. However, the developed mind will find its way to Allah (SWT) 'God'. Failure to find the way does not mean that there is no way. Denial of reality does not make it unreal.

God is a just God, God is also a respectful God.

God created Man with a free will. He offers each of us the choice of believing in Him or not. If you chose to believe in Him, and accept Him, then... well.. He will certainly want you to be (exist) with Him. And where God "lives" is called "heaven."

Now, if you chose NOT to believe in Him and accept Him, then God says, "Okay, that's fine, I respect your decision, but I can't have someone being with Me who doesn't believe I exist." Therefore, you will not be with Him, and the "place" where God does NOT live is called "hell."

Here are a couple of points to ponder for you... 1) When Moses asked God by what NAME should he refer to Him as when he spoke to the people of Israel, God's answer was, "I AM THAT I AM." 2) You may not believe in God, but God believes in you. Good Luck!

it would take a lot of scriptures for me to explain this so im just gonna make it simple. the fire and brimstone and the pit is for the devil and his angels and the hell that we go to is the grave, when we are cast into the pit we die suffering the 2nd death.
Revelation, 2:11: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who conquers shall not be hurt by the second death.'
Revelation, chapter 20;6: Blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with him a thousand years. 14: Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire;
Revelation, chapter 21;8: But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death."
satan
Revelation, chapter 19;20: And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had worked the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur.
Revelation, chapter 20;10: and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
2 Peter, chapter 2;4: For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of nether gloom to be kept until the judgment;

It's an individual thing, God has the judgment on us individually. You would have to be pretty bad person to go to hell. God is compassionate and merciful, God would save most people, therefore in heaven for those whom God saved from hell, would have to learn in heaven what they should of on earth, and by doing that you would eventually get to see God.

I'll talk in your terms.

If indeed God exists, then He is the One responsible for our creation, our growth, blessings and everything else is owed to Him.

If I give you a vast fortune, a sports car, a mansion and everything else, and then you said that I never gave it to you, what do you think?

Plus, why would He save you from Hell when you don't believe in Him in the first place?

I don't know how many times I've answered questions similar to this on Yahoo Answers, but here goes: God does not send anyone to hell. We were already lost. The reason Jesus came was to give a chance to go to heaven. Your opinion of God is a gross misconception. If God didn't love us, He never would have sent Jesus to die for us on the cross.

Yes if you leave it in that definition. You, like many people and through no fault of your own, are slightly misinformed which in this day and age is sooooo easy. Okay...here goes.
It says in the Bible that even the demons BELIEVE in God and they tremble at the mere thought of Him. That is not enough just to believe. The part you are truly being challenged to believe is that God sent his one and only son to Earth to know what it was like to be human and to be tempted like a human (though He never fell into the temptations...crucial point), and then died in the most painful way (at the time) known to man. In fact, the word excruciating means out of the or from the cross. It hurt that bad and He did that for us. Now the Jews had been told for millennia (literally) or tens of centuries that He would be coming and they were indeed expecting Him. Beginning with Palm Sunday, this marks when Jesus entered the city and at that point, most of the Jews were sure it was Him...the true Messiah. However, THEY thought that Jesus would free them from the oppression of the Romans and "clean house" with a little vengeance for messing with God's chosen people as was promised. Well, the promise is still there, but it is reserved for Jesus' SECOND COMING. The first time, He came to wipe away sin and die for all mankind...including the Gentiles (everyone else who is not a Jew). Okay, so with that in mind, they got REALLLY MAD and tried to convince the Governor (Pontius Pilate) of Jerusalem to crucify Him. After all, to them He HAD to be a fake. This was predicted however by EVERY SINGLE PROPHET OF GOD. Every one. Impressive huh? Anyway, He died on the cross, rose 3 days later, and then 40 days after that, ascended into Heaven. The part most people do not believe is that He died and then CAME BACK TO LIFE. Because this would be the 'last straw' so to speak of a number of other proofs that He really is the Son of God. Most of the others they could wave away with some kind of words or mumbo jumbo magic. Not this. So, they just chose not to believe.
Now, I don't know about you, but I would not give up my beautiful 8 year old son (at any age) to die even peacefully and without pain FOR ANYONE! NOBODY. But God did this for us. If you choose not to believe, well then yes, you are going to Hell. Because after all of that, God went as far as He possibly could to reach us again in our lost and sinful state. And, easy as it is, if you refuse to reach out your hand after all He did, then I can't say I really blame Him. How would YOU feel if you did a huge favor for someone to reconcile or fix up a relationship EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR FAULT and they just thumb their nose at you and walk away? I don't know if you have ever been there, I have and it hurts enough that you wanna just SLAP the person...at least.

Many people interpret the bible to their understanding. In my opinion, the word "hell" means death, not enternal damnation in a lake of fire.
There is mention of the eternal damnation and that means, in my opinion, that the death is eternal, not the burning in fire for ever and ever.
The idea is that if you do not support God, then he will remove your life forever.

If you reject a salvation that is offered to you that is eternal in nature. And when you offend a being that is eternal in nature especially when that Being has done everything for you to be forgiven of it. Why shouldn't the punishment be eternal as well? Not insulting you, just offering a different viewpoint.
