Because the West has been misled by false individualist and dualistic philosophies which treat the body as a pleasure machine instead of a sacred temple, and because there is much money to be made in breaking down standards of self-restraint. Since sexual appetites are so powerful, when those are broken people are easily turned into voracious consumers.

Although, I do agree with you about the West promoting sexuality and nudeness, I believe completely covered is carrying modesty to another extreme. A middle ground would seem the way to go in modern times. Anyone remember how nice June Cleaver and Lucille Ball looked? Boy, I'll bet there's lots of you guys out there thinking I'm an old fashioned, ole fogy!

The west promotes the right of the individual to decide what their own personal behaviors will and will not be. Of course, you make a valid point that some people obsess on using their bodies as a means of expression. This is something different from believing the body to be a thing of beauty, something worth adorning. And then some people obsess on modesty, on covering up the body. Usually they make posts about it and try to push their beliefs on others.

Or perhaps one person could live as they see fit,and another could live as they see fit. What is really so hard about that? Why after thousands of years can't people just accept that not everybody wants the same live,or has the same standards. If one religious woman wants to dress super modestly,stay a virgin until marriage,and live as a virtual servant to her husband fine by me. If another woman wants to have orgies with different groups of men at her house every friday night,also fine by me. Why is it anybody elses business??
