I have been ill since the New Year. It started with a virus along with all types of weird symptoms like: cold running water sensations in my arms, pins and needles, sensitivity to light, feeling very unwell. It then progressed into attacks: it feels like body shuts down, heart beats rapidly, breathing in gasps, feel like sleeping, then trembling and shaking, usually lasting about 15 minutes, afterwards being really tired for hours. My latest symptom is feeling sick and dizzy all the time. Dr's have done tests but come up with nothing other than anxiety and possible chronic fatigue (post viral) I am fretting about brain tumors, MS etc etc. The hosp are referring me for an MRI scan but only as I opted for it - to put my mind at rest. Can all this really be anxiety? It is ruining my life - I dont have a social life anymore, cant go to work or do any of my normal acitivities as I feel too ill and fear having an attack. Can anyone help me?

I had simular symptoms when I was pregnant with my so, I was found to be anemic. I also have low blood pressure so maybe it would be best to have your blood and blood pressure checked. See your GP.

Been there, had that! It is anxiety! Can be triggered by anything. Worst thing is you cannot stop thinking about it and always feel s.th. not correct with your body or anotehr attack coming. This has controlled my life for a long time but I have gotten it under control. I ran from doc to doc and only a psychiatrist was able to help. This is how I did it: First of all I realized that I never fainted or passed out- my greatest fear as I could control the trembling. Then I realized, after visting all the docs that I did not have any serious deseases! (Though the reaction of your body is real- meaning affects your body hence you are feeling tired- another good reason to get this under control!). Then I got myself Bach Rescue Rememdy and have taken 5 drops whenever I felt weak or dizzy or an attack coming- it helped! I forced myself to take deep breaths andto think about a sunny day at the beach (positive affirmation). Man, this did it for me. After a few weeks the attacks got really "soft" and now they are completely gone. Whenever I am in a stressfull phase I feel this coming back again but I use the same mechanisms stated above and I can prevent the attacks. Also important: Strenghten your mind and body- if you need rest, get rest. Do sports (moderate one like walking, hiking- anything outdoors refreshes mind and body). Read good books about anxiety to understand the mechanisms better and you will see YOU ARE NOT ALLONE! Tell your close friends about this- one major thing about the attacks is that your do not want others to see this weakness of yours which makes it even worse as you cramp even more! Be open with your weaknesses, you will be surprised that maybe some of your friends are affected too and are more than willing to help!. I wish you all the best in this world- let this not take contorl over your life- gain the control back- it is all in your head!

I think having the MRI scan ran is a good thing. And maybe having your thyrid checked out also. I personally think it is panic attacks that you are having but don't want you to not get any tests that you may need.

I have suffered from panic disorder with agorphobia for almost 10 years. I am currently on Paxil and Klonipin. I have all of your symptoms and even some more. My attacks are so extreme. It is the worst feeling in the world. I know how you feel. Believe me, there are sooo many of us that are going through it right along with ya. Just know that there is hope at the end of the tunnel and you have to be strong. In the end it will take you being fed up with it and you taking control of the panic instead of the panic taking control of you.

Contact a therepest, maybe they can start you on some med's.

Good luck and if ya ever need someone to chat with feel free to email me.

I have it and i feel absolute **** in my case my joints hurt, I'm constantly tired and that has leaded me to depression. I do have times that I'm on the go full of energy and that is Hyper mobility Syndrome and NO their not connected very few people -may I say that we're the lucky ones- experience both. Chronic Fatigue is awful but with changes to your diet, massages, small every day goals and counseling you will get better with time. All the best x ps please remember everyone is different and you may experience some symptoms worse or at all

The symptoms do sound like symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks etc. Worrying about what the cause is will be making your anxiety worse so it's a good idea to have scans to rule everything else out and when they come back clear you can start to try to relax

i had this problem for years, it got so bad that i was passing out and couldnt remember things. i always felt sick and dizzy too. it sounded exactly like what you are going through. i went to the doctors and the hospital and they all did countless tests but they could not find a reason for it whatsoever. it was put down to stress and anxiety, which made a lt of sense.
its not been a problem for a while though, perhaps because recently things have settled down a bit and i am less stressed etc. it might seem as though it'l never end but im sure u will 'grow out of it' as i have

Yes this can be caused from anxiety i get most of your symtoms when i have a panick attack however yours do sound a bit extreme but if the doctors reckon thats all it is i'd tend to believe them and try not get yourself worked up too much as this added to it is probably not helping. you have stated that you dont have a social life anymore and cant go to work etc, this is because you are "worrying" and "stressing" that you'll have an attack therefore it causes the attack.
unfortunatley it is a vicious circle that only you can help. you may need some councelling to help you calm down and de-stress.

It sounds exactly like what I have had to put up with for the last two years on and off. A panic attack or more commonly, panic disorder, repetitive panic attacks and fear of panic attacks happening leading to possibly agrophobia.

I know in my head that its anxiety and panic and even got taken to hospital to get my heart checked because i passed out from hyper ventilating last friday

. But in the end all they can do is offer counselling and diazepam so i'm working through it.You are not alone there are lots of people with this problem, it comes from the basic fight or flight reaction. I hope things get better for you.

It could be anxiety. Obviously your body is at a low at the moment and it may have taken a toll on your mental health too. I have had major panic attacks, so I know how debilitating they can be. Something mental can have a terrible effect on your physical health.

Your doctor needs to send you for counselling to help you overcome the panic. It's good that they are also sending you for the MRI. If you can clear up your feelings anything else is something that the doctor needs to investigate.

I hope that everything comes back clear for you.

It could be anxiety related as some of the other posters suggested but some of these symptoms are also symptoms of a thyroid disorder.

I would recommend asking your dr for the entire thyroid panel of blood tests to make sure this isn't something physically wrong with your thyroid.
