Jam 3:13 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
Jam 3:14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Jam 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish.
Jam 3:16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.
Jam 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Jam 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Have you ever known anyone who claimed to be wise but who acted foolishly? True wisdom can be measured by a person’s character. Just as you can identify a tree by the type of fruit it produces, you can evaluate your wisdom by the way you act. Foolishness leads to disorder, but wisdom leads to peace and goodness. Are you tempted to escalate the conflict, pass on the gossip, or fan the fire of discord? Careful, winsome speech and wise, loving words are the seeds of peace. God loves peacemakers (Matthew 5:9).

Bitter jealousy and selfish ambition are inspired by the Devil. It is easy for us to be drawn into wrong desires by the pressures of society and sometimes even by well-meaning Christians. By listening to the advice: “Assert yourself,” “Go for it,” “Set high goals,” we can be drawn into greed and destructive competitiveness. Seeking God’s wisdom delivers us from the need to compare ourselves to others and to want what they have.

Peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.

This discussion of true wisdom is related to the previous reflection on the role of the teacher as one who is in control of his speech. The qualities of the wise man endowed from above are detailed (James 3:17-18; cf Gal 5:22-23), in contrast to the qualities of earthbound wisdom (James 3:14-16; cf 2 Cor 12:20).
Peace and every blessing!

I must admit I find that a bit convussing here is a better translation
13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

True wisdom comes from the Father through His spirit. It causes one to Love, not judge, nor curse others. The wisdom from Knowledge only causes people to think that they know everything, in turn, cursing, and judging others, which is not from God. God's wisdom reveals truths that no man can teach, and only those who have the spirit of God, can know His truths!

I have seen this time and time again. When, for their own profit, one tries like the old Pharisees praying out loud in the streets, they only succeed in making a um...DONKEY of themselves. I have seen false prophets TRY to speak in tongues and it sounds SOOOO BOGUS!!! But when someone is truly using their words to edify God and not themselves, then it is easy to tell...not always...but usually. Yes I have seen the fruit of righteousness truly sown in peace of (and by) them that make peace.
Nice one, by the way.

If you will look at the whole chapter you will see that James wrote it to speak against the gossip, jealousy, bitterness, and fighting that existed in the church he is writing to.
The only thing this proves is that Christians are not (and don't claim to be) perfect and sinless...yet. God will make them perfect and sinless--but not until the enter heaven. Until then, they will have to remain human like everyone else.
