i say go with pole dancing (of course I'm biased lol)
Pole Dancing burns 200-500 per hour! You will build muscle and burn fat. It's A LOT of fun and very addicting!
Every woman of ANY size can do it! You do NOT need to be "skinny" to pole dance!
Unlike previous answers, it's not "sad". It's a legitimate form of exercise. Almost all dance was once thought of as "taboo"..INCLUDING belly dance and yes even ballet! You don't have to be naked to dance...in fact most of my students where capri tights and tshirts! Unless of course they want to dress up, then that's their choice...ALL of them have chosen to dress up in costume at one point! It's FUN!!
Removable poles are readily available online. I sell them, but there are many options and not all poles are right for all people...everyone needs something different.

You can buy fold-up poles, on the net I would think, but I would recommend belly dancing, it's great fun. It makes you feel sexy & flexible, and I love the music, it can get very hypnotic.
I've tried lots of gym & exercises, but belly dancing is the only thing I've stuck with, because it's so enjoyable. You find yourself getting into the clothes, jewellery, makeup & Middle Eastern food too. I had an Egyptian teacher, she taught us all sorts of circle dances and self-hypnotising dance, so there's a whole lot more to it than with pole-dancing, and you don't need a pole!
Find a good teacher - with some you might as well be doing keep-fit, and go for Egyptian because Turkish is much faster, so harder to do, and more 'disco' than the Egyptian (also known as Arabic), which tends to be dances from the villages.

I vote for belly dancing. Its a dance by women for women with women.
It is also practised in many different styles, the earthy sensual grounding dance with truly rhythmic beats is such a freeing and feminine thing to do!
I f you want to get into showy jangling outfits and gyrate your body, go for pole dancing. I am sure they provide the poles at the establishment holding the class.
Both dances will tone and strengthen your abdominal thigh and back muscles. And both teach control and balance, Have fun!!!

Well pole dancing is a great work out. I happen to be an exotic dancer, BUT the best way to tone your entire body and quick, would be Winsor Pilates.. its easy, quick and you can do it right in your living room! Ive been using it for 3years now and ive stayed in a year round excellent shape. You can tone your abs, have that sexci lifted butt, and gone with the cottage cheese on those legs. I hope ive helped!
p.s. you gotta try it

I have done both; they are both SO FUN. I think pole is the most fun. But they're both great. I did not shape up with these classes, but doing pole motivated me to go lift weights at the gym, and I shaped up doing that!!
Yes, you don't have to buy a pole, just if you want one in your house to practice.

Less junk food more exercise. Seriously...nobody wants to see a jiggly poledancer or belly dancer. Try a low carb diet for starts. then if your doctor agrees it is not dangerous start jogging.
I have a great amount of respect for the overweight jogger rather than the less overweight one making no effort
