Just wondering... I realized that I can't think of a single way of how telling a Christian that they're theory of Intelligent Design is flawed benefits me...
Is the "you're wrong!" reflex part of our competitive nature?

And here's my assistant, "Christian and Proud", to prove my case.

it most certainly does perpetuate the divide between sides...so long as there's a wrong side and a right side there's going to be conflict.
As true as any statement may be, if it's not presented in such a way that it can be recieved willingly, it's a waste of effort and energy. So, the best means of resolve is love -- that is to say that communicating for the sake of facillitating one's audience is an act of love. You can't communicate effectively out of frustration, anger, arrogance, pride or apathy...

Everyone responds better to love...theist or otherwise.

What do you profit when you get hated by them after you said they're wrong?

First of all when you see someone wrong, don't accuse the person right away coz it will just inflict or hurt the person.

Live through good example so people will be moved when your goodness reflects to many people.

You should not tell people bluntly they're wrong, instead just tell them there's a better thing to do from what have they done. A good correction is made after a good counsel is given.

In correcting others, be their guide, not their critic.
If they insist not to listen, then comfort their hurts; for every sin have their own causes. A good counsel or advice will heal every wound inflicted by other people that may have caused them to do wrong.

Keep doing good to your brethren and you will see your friends multiply and keep yours days happy.

God bless you all.

Using timing and choosing the occasion and person to tell 'You are wrong' may help all the parties.
We may profit from proving to ourselves that we have the courage to stand up for what is right.
We may profit from the process of sorting out an issue in our mind so as to clearly communicate.
It is not just a reflex. It is usually the result of a desire to live in a better world not just competitive.

Er, you don't care about right and wrong? I do.

I can't imagine how the world would be better as a result of pretending that "Intelligent Design" is anything more than creationist propaganda. If we stop distinguishing between right and wrong, we might as well just start beating each other over the head and taking what we want.

If you don't like it when people say "you're wrong", I'll just point out "Daisy is right".

In any other religion, you can't say that it's right or wrong.

But in the case of intelligent design, it really is incorrect. It's wrong to make up facts and try to pass them of as science.

Nope...

It never serves a purpose to tell someone "you're wrong". Instead, it's wise enough to have a (mature) discussion and view both view points. It's more progressive.

Peace.

trying to prove someone wrong ... even if you are correct
does nothing for you ( except some smugness ) , but may hurt the other party a great deal
so it has no positive effects whats so ever
I say , leave people to their beliefs
by all means discuss them , but without hurting

"Your wrong" is so 3rd grade and uncovering the santa conspiracy.

What is needed is a good discussion about the facts.
