I am 30, and i have had this problem since childhood where my leg bones seem to ache - not the muscles.
I usually get for 1-2 days at a time at unpredictable times - maybe twice in one week, maybe not for months at a time!

I cannot find any reason why - they sometimes ache after exercise, but not other times, and sometimes after no exercise at all.
Then i thought it was dehydration - but ruled that out too
I thought it may have been cold weather - but they ache in the summer aswell.

Can anyone help? My GP can't.

Ask your GP to send youy to an orthopedic specialist. They will probably be a ble to figure out whats up. It might be as simple as putting orthotic insoles in your shoes to correct your gait. Try keeping a diary of what shoes you wear, and for how long. Also put down in your diary the amount of pain on a given day. If you do this for a little while it will give your doctor more info to make a good diagnoses.

I used to get leg aches when lying in bed at night. My mum told me to eat more salt and it worked. I later found out that a lack of iodine can cause these aches. Get yourself some iodised table salt to put on your food and give it a try. Worked for me.

maybe u should take some calcium and vitamin D supplements. u need aboul 1-1.2g of calcium per day, u can take calcium fortified milk, or just the supplements. u can get vit D by staying in early morning sun for few minutes.
if this doesn't work then u should go to the doctor.

Are you sure it's not sciatica? That doesn't feel muscular, but is a general ache or shooting pain in the tops of the legs.
