yes. It can be very expensive to develop these technologies. When something new is introduced on the market, the manufacturer has no idea how long their product will be marketable. This means they must pay off the development cost as soon as possible but at a price that the upper end consumers can justify paying for it. As they get these costs paid down, they have also been able to increase production and begin pricing their product for volume sales to the general population.

My first VCR cost me $1.200.00. It weighed a ton. This was in the 80's that must be the equivalent of $2,000.00 or more today. Now they almost give them away. It has always worked this way with gadgits. The only things that keep going up are the cost of living, gasoline, food, cars, the things we have to have.

Definitely. Newer models and better technology are coming up each year. And each time a new one comes along, the old one gets a big price reduction. In 3 years, some of the digital cameras or mp3 players could even be redundant by then.

Hi,
yes this is definite. Techonology is advancing everyday, so techonology now will become older techonology very soon. Prices of camera can drop dramatically, so can computers such as laptops.
Some electronic devices such as external harddrives will not change much as the techonology in them dont change as often as something like a camera or laptop.
