It's not pus, it's lymph and it's normal. It will most likely continue even after the swelling has gone down. Swelling can last for about 2 weeks.
I don't know why people who don't know a thing about piercings answer these questions. So for the record: NO rubbing alcohol, peroxide, dial soap (very drying), bactine (not for puncture wounds) or oils. Don't twist or rotate the jewelry.
All you need to do is sea salt soaks 2-3 times daily, wipe off any build up gently with a cotton swab after your soak, then LITHA (Leave it the hell alone)

Thank god there are profession piercers (or at least claim to be no offense guys but it is the net afterall) here, to dispell the rumors people insist on perpetuating here. I wonder how these people who claim to have piercings ever managed to heal them properly.
What my piercer recommends is to leave it alone. Dont touch, twist, pull, poke or over clean the jewelry. this will cause tearing and inadvertantly increase healing time. Clean the jewelry only when/if a crust develops on the edge of the jewelry. For swelling take motrin it is an anti-inflmatory and pain reliever so it will help on two fronts.
Remember this is an injury to your body it, like any other punture wound, takes time to heal. Your body will do what it needs to to heal properly.
If you have any concerns please contact you piercer (although in my expierience you should have received an after care sheet outling what i and several other have said here so that scares me about where you got pierced) and they can guide you from there.
Finally if you do have an infection, DO NOT i repeat DO NOT take the jewelry out. This cause the whole to close thus trapping the infection inside your body and can lead to life threatening complications.

I have had my nose piercing ever since I was 5 .... I had never had swelling or pus but I have had that on my ear (my cartlidge). I dont know I think you should be worried because I have repierced another whole in my nose and done it all and I have never seen it swollen or puss even when some one hit me in the nose. To tell you the truth I've never seen this happen to a nose piercing. You should put a teeny dab of alcohol on it and swirl the nose ring

you should worry about the scar that a poorly kept piercing is going to leave.
in the healing process there is going to be some drainage, not pus. hopefully where you got it done they gave you some instructions on how to take care of it. if not here is my recommendation
1.soak it with warm water twice a day. this will loosen up the crusty stuff that builds on the jewelry and let your piercing drain. the best way to do this is in the shower. its hard to soak your nose cause submerging it in water means your not breathing unless you have a snorkel. kidding aside most people use a warm wash cloth but be careful cause your jewelry can get caught in it .
2.some people use dial ant-biotic soap some say it'll dry your skin out. ill leave that one up to you. if you want to use soap you can always dilute it before using it to avoid drying your skin out.. make sure the soap is fragrance free
3. use bactine after cleaning and whenever you get a chance during the day.
---things you want to avoid is first, touch your piercing with unwashed hands. this is the leading problem with infections in piercing.second if you think its infected don't use antibiotic ointments.that only prohibits drainage
i worked at a reputable shop for years there is nothing better than proper care so you can take your dirty thumbs down and shove it up your Pusey nose

Normal. As long as the discharge isn't green or bloody, you're fine. And the jewelry will feel tight in the piercing until you are fully healed. The fluid shouldn't be GUSHING out, but there should be a bit here and there.
Keep the area clean, do your daily salt soaks and all should be well.

If you have concerns, its generally a good idea to call the person who pierced you or visit them when you can.

No. With every piercing, this happens.
Basically, you have a new foreign object in a vicinity of your body where there wasn't something there before.
This is your body fighting off bacteria.
Puss is just a build up of that immunity.
Make sure you are using the correct anti-bacterial care and using it when you are supposed to.
It'll be okay :)
I had my tounge pierced and in the beginning it was like that, too! It turned out okay

I might be a little worries however I would wait a few more days b4 rushing to the er. Mine was pretty much good from day 1 however everyone's heals different. I would def. go down and ask the piercer if everything is okay with it. He might beable to tell you what your doing wrong or something to use for it. Good luck and I hope it turns out good.

I had my nose done about 10years ago now and i never had any problems with it. I think you should take it out if it's swollen and white liquid is coming out, it could be badly infected.
I had my eyebrow done about 2years ago, it got all tight and swollen and white puss was coming out. Everyone told me to take it out because it was infected but i kept saying it would heal in time. In the end the skin around it got smaller and smaller until one day it just dropped out. I'm now left with a scar. Take it out.

No. It actually NEEDS to do that. If it weren't doing that the first week, you should be very worried! It'll lessen with time and the swelling will go down. Just make sure not to over clean it because it'll just dry it out and irritate it.
