$30.00 an hour. That sounds pretty reasonable! (that's 10 dollars a kid)

Jeesh! When I babysat during college, I only got payed $5 an hour and that was for 2 kids! These people are generous! Six kids is a lot. If you can afford it, I would say $30 an hour. That's $5 per child. Looking after children is very hard work if you're doing a good job and providing excellent care. Providing sitters with reasonable pay helps to keep them with you! Also - pay could depend on where you live and also the age of the person babysitting. For instance, a teenager might be happy with a smaller amount, whereas someone older who is trying to pay bills might want more. Also, you have to look at the cost of living in the area where you reside. That makes a difference in the price you should pay. Lots of things to consider!

Wow, could you pay her enough?

Seriously, though, depending on where you live can make a world of difference. And you didn't say how old she is or what her level of experience is. These are all factors. How much does she want to be paid?

I would probably pay her a flat rate of $40-$50 for the 2 hours. That's small town midwest or southern rate, though. If you are in New York or New Jersey or California, up that by at least $20.
