I don't know if this will help but at his previous school there would have been a senior health visitor- speak to her, state your concerns, ask if she can put a link on his file so when the new school requests his records, they are made aware of the risks to this child; she could liase with the new social services & inform them they need to watch him i.e. put him on "at risk" register, & if they feel action is necessary to protect him / remove him / find more suitable residential accomodation, they could contact you...

Long shot but worth trying...

Bit of consolation for you. Someone recently said to me "understand you walked the same path for a while but that could not be forever. Your paths may meet again..."

Sue for custody. I don't know British laws regarding removal of a child from an unhealthy environment but I'm quite certain you can get that boy away if you fight hard and mean. Go past the solicitor. Get her arrested, if that's what it takes. It may even help her.

You fight. You bug the solicitor and any and everyone else involved until they take action if for no other reason than to shut you up.

If you can't find them in Perth, even through old friends, or whatever, hire a PI.

Just do whatever it takes and don't worry about being polite even with authorities. This is a case where the squeakiest wheel gets the grease. Your grandson is worth it.

This is so sad, and must be difficult for you.
There will be a paper trail here, but in order to follow this you will need to take the official route. They must be staying somewhere, and by the sounds of it the DSS could be paying the rent, if they are staying with friends or his family, they may be claiming benefit. I think the only way to go about this is to go to Social Services and voice your concerns for your grandsons safety & well being. This may need daily persistance on your part. Perth is a sizeable place to look for someone and there are 55 primary schools in the area. Chances of them being on the electoral register sound slim. i feel social services or the police are your only real options here, and i dont really know how the police will react without specific incidents. I'm sorry, i dont seem to be of any real help here but felt the need to at least try. i wish you, your son, & grandson the very best of luck

If what you say is true the child would likely be classed as 'at risk'. In this case maybe social services would help track the mother down if only to check on the child's welfare? She'll either be signing on or working and either way it will be possible to track her via her national insurance number so I'd get on to the social and explain how concerned you are about your grandson's safety. The only other option would be to hire a private investigator. I'd say it's worth informing the police too. They should listen if they think there is risk to a child. Sorry this isn't a bit more positive or proactive. Good Luck.

Call direct enquiries and get the phone number for Perth police station and see if they can help. If you give them the details they might be able to help, or, get the solicitor to phone them. If you cannot get the number for Perth police try Crieff police. I do hope all goes well and that you find your grandson soon xx

hi there really sorry for you hun, i dont know how it works in scotland i guess the same as england but you could try the electoral role ? and there are lots of tracking sites on the internet, also national isurance number etc. Thats the sad thing about cocaine and any drug , people just dont care about anybody... only the drug when they are on it. You could also try getting social services involved for your grandsons welfare and im sure that they have ways and means of tracking people. hope this helps good luck x

Tell everything you just wrote to the police. Tell them you are worried about your grandsons welfare given the circumstances. If boyfriend is a crack dealer then chances are he has a criminal record, and if you have seen him you might be able to identify him by his mugshot. If you know his name even better but for your grandsons sake go to the police now

social services should help. it sounds like this boy is potentially in danger and should be on the child protection register. grandparents still have legal rights and you should at least be granted access to see your grandson if nothing more is done.

Tell the child protection people. They are there to protect children and get them out of the house if they are in any danger, abuse or health issues as soon as possible and relocate them. They will respond and react. That's their job and they will do their job.
