Hello. The husband and I are planning on going on a trip. We will be spending a night in San Diego and as our first times, we would like to know some quick answers if you kind people can help.
The check-in/out times. Let's say that they were 4pm today and 12pm next day ----- My guess is we can't check in before 4pm, but can we also leave before 12? Lets say.. 7am.
Bathroom and showers ----- Does every room has their own? Or is it shared through the hotel?
Daily maintenance ----- I was looking through some hotels at hotels.com and they stated that; do they come in regardless, or can we ask to not be disturbed as we would like to just sleep the day away before traveling again.
Thanks.

Hi!
I work for a hotel, so consider my answer qualified. :)
Check in time here (Marriott) is 3pm. You can request an early check-in, and it is usually not a problem. The check out time is at 12pm, but feel free to leave eariler, 12 is just when they need the room to be vacated on your check out day (so they can get it clean.) You can, if necessary, also request a late check out.
Your room should have its own bathroom/shower. If it does not, then you are not at a hotel, you are at a hostel. Leave.
Most hotels will have a little placard on the doorknob that you can put on the outside of the door that say "Do Not Disturb". If you put this out and leave, your room will be bypassed by housekeeping. Should you require towels or anything when you get back, just call the front desk.
Also, many hotels have mini fridges and microwaves available on request. You might check before you leave, because this can save you money on food!
Hope this helps!

That is not a problem at all. From working in hotels it is best to let them know that your flight gets in at midnight so you will not be there until 1am or whatever. Also request (as it is not always possible) a late checkout to give you more time to sleep. Most hotels will extend checkout by an hour at no charge but for longer there may be a small fee. Hope you enjoy Canada its a great place!

check-in/out: if you were going to arrive at a hotel before the stated check-in time, let the hotel know ahead of time, via email or phone, that you will be arriving earlier and most places will have a room available for you.
for check-out, you can check out whenever you want. you do not have to stay until the stated check-out time. that is just there to let people know they have the room until say 12pm. but you can certainly leave before that time.
bathroom; i think most hotels in north america these days have a bathroom in each room. (exceptions i can think of would be if you were staying at a bed and breakfast or something like that)
housekeeping: hotels will have a sign you can hang on the outside of your door saying 'do not disturb'. this lets the housekeeping staff know you don't want them to come into your room. to be doubly sure, you can also phone the front desk or housekeeping and specifically tell them you don't want to be disturbed on a certain day.

on the check in and out times they do let them slide. usually you can check in a little earlier then the time it says. the time they say is the time your room will be prepared for sure for you. clean sheets, beds made, clean linon etc.
every room has their own private bathroom. so no worries there. your room may even have its own microwave, minnie fridge, and blow dryer ( most hotels are fully furnished with these items now days )
on the daily maintance, you have every right to not be disturbed. you will have a sign on your door handle that says housekeeper on one side and on the other it says do not disturb. if you keep it on the do not disturb side, they are not allowed to come in. however if you leave for the day it is nice to put it on the housekeeper side, they will come take out all your dirty towels and sheets, make your bed and leave you with all new stuff again. but it is your choice. good luck and have fun on your trip. if you have any other questions you can ask me
also you are allowed to leave whenever you want. the check out time is when you need to leave by, but your welcome to leave whenever :)

Universally the check in - check out time is 12 noon. This 24 hours is considered as one day. Some times during peak season they restrict it to 20 or even 18 hours. In thailand check in time is 1900 hrs. After check out time, they normally accept your request for 1 hour extention, but they expect you inform them earlier. But you can check out, after settling bills, and keep your luggage, at locker, normally they do not charge. Each normal /deluxe room contain a double bed, for two people only , with single bath room attached. If you take a sweat they normally have 2 bath rooms, and 3-5 people can stay (charges per room only).
