There are only 2 ways to workout, first is to do a lot of reps (lifts) with a lower weight or to do a small amount of reps with a lot of weight. I'm assuming that you want to get large and powerful, so I would lift 80lbs, maybe see how many reps you can do, if you can do 8 reps, then 80lbs is to light, so I would bump it up to 90lbs. You should do about 4-5 reps at the higher weight, about 3 sets, maybe 2-3 times a week. But this will build you like a world strongman guy, to get cut you have to do low weight with a lot of reps. If you can do 70lbs with about 15 reps for 3 sets, this would really make your muscles cut and help your muscles look toned.
There is more things you should do if you want to get stronger faster, like taking protein supplements and eating good deals of chicken to help your body use the protein for your muscles. But this is dangerous if you take to much and don't use it. Check out GNC or just head to your local gym or doctor's office and they can explain that better and tell you the best to take based on your weight and workout regime. Well good luck!

Keep lifting weights, a70 or 80 does matter least. To get stronger is objective. Look for areas where you want to get stronger. If it is cardiac angle, you can lift less weight but do it consistently on daily basis with much smaller weights. If it is for defense against blows you have to lift higher weights, but again that is harmful for onset of arthritis etc in the long run. To be healthy is being stronger. But stronger may not be healthy. Think, consult experts and systematize work plan that is unique to yourself.
