There are volumes of scriptures which describe so-called "Hinduism"-- a yahoo answer forum could never do justice to the subject. "Hinduism," by the way, is a misnomer coming from foreigners calling the people who lived by the Indus River "Hindus".
People lump together many different 'religions' and call them Hinduism.

it's a whole school of philosophies and thoughts and practices which arose in ancient india, east of river sindh. hinduism requires you to follow your dharma, or if you are of philosophical bent, to search for the truth once your responsiblities are over.
