Is illegal immigration a serious issue to you? Would you support a politician who sought to seriously fight it?

Many people use the faulty argument that "They are good for our economy!". This is false. The ONLY contribution they make that our workers cannot cheaply replace is picking the fruit. Put the prisoners in the fruit fields! Problem solved. We spend billions on welfare, healthcare and public health for illegal immigrants. The tax money this costs us vastly outweighs the benefit of cheap produce (which could be had with prisoner labor). Furthermore, they poison our school systems so much so that the quality of schools in California and Texas is often reprehensible.

It isn't "lazy asses" that are losing their jobs to illegals. The principal issue is not job loss, anyways. Job loss is an issue of outsourcing. Come here to Detroit, and see how bad it is; it's a third world warzone where I live and it's getting closer to anarchy every time more workers are laid off. As well, "going back to school" is not financially viable for the vast majority of us non-spoiled Americans who have to work hard to get by. Millions of Americans who have hard to extract roots laid down cannot just get a degree and make lots of money, though many do. Also, a degree does not guarantee you ****. The issue with illegal immigration is the amount of tax money it takes to take care of them, and the damage done to public services such as schools and hospitals. Another thing to concider is the conciderable societal and cultural damage done in places such as California and Texas. Having lived in Texas, I can attest to this. You must look at this issue from many angles.

Yes it is due to me living in Southern California.
I'm 18 now. And any politician who wanted to seriously fight it is getting my vote.
Enough is enough.
Don't try and tell me that you're making a better life when you're children are breaders. They're popping out babies left and right starting at age 15, only to eat the heck out of our welfare systems. And to take advantage of the fact that we, as americans, respect everyone.
You say that America is so awesome and you want your relatives to come. That we're giving you chances you would have never had. That you respect it. And then turn around and wave your country's flag on your day of protest? Eff that! If you love it so much, GO back!

Woooo, I'm glad you asked.
1) CLOSE THE BORDERS - Move Military bases to border states right on the border. Like Ft. Rooker in Enterprise, AL. It is the helicopter training base for the Army. What better place to train with a copter where the climate and conditions are like where most of our troubles have been. Build barricades of all kinds to stop vehicle and foot traffic. Use every technological device known to man to deter illegal crossings.
2) ALL ILLEGALS MUST register within a 90 day period. After 90 days if they are caught - immediate deportation. Registration is as follows, photoed, finger printed, palm printed, Retina printed, DNA profiled. All registered illegals MUST be employed and have a permanent residence.
3) Registered illegals are given a 2 year work visa and do 2 things during this 2 year period, learn to speak and write fluent English and register to become a legal citizen. If anyone commits a violent crime they will be immediately deported.
4) At the end of the 2 year period or near the end all registered illegals must return to country of origin for at least one day. The following day they will be allowed back on their application for legal status. They must go through the usual legalization process as everyone else. If they commit a violent crime before completing the process - immediate deportation.

I feel that the laws on immigration that are already on the book are not being enforced at all and if they were then there would be no problem, We definitely should go ahead and build the fence alone our borders with Mexico because of the drug traffic and the easy ways there are for Terrorists to enter our country, we need this done right away without any further delay by debating it.

Yes, but I have met many illegal aliens that are incredible people whom I love and it hurts to even talk about the issue. However, it is my belief that it is in the best interest of both the United States and illegals to make it illegal. Many illegals are grossly taken advantage of here in the states and our public service systems can not handle the population. Especially education as it is extremely horrible in California. by the way, I'd never send my child to a public school in California.

Yes I would. I would love to see any politician that would do his job and enforce the laws that we have in place, the president needs to be kicked out of office because he is not doing just that, he swore by oath that he would uphold the laws of our great country, all he has done is give our country away to a third world country by doing nothing about it!

Not to mention TB, Chickenpox, Hep A, list goes on. There has to be some sort of control on this. Tougher laws. Maybe we should have the Mexico government start paying.
There are jobs in Mexico. More then here in MIchigan.

Lets say I did not want deer in my yard. The most expedient way to keep them out of my yard is to build a tall fence. But am I thinking of the long term maintenance costs of having that fence? I also know that the deer will eventually find a hole in the fence. Or get hung up in the fence. So what choice do I have now? Put up a surveilence camera? How many manhours should I dedicate to watching the monitors? Now how much will that cost me, in the long term?
If this truly is the land of opportunity, who are the opportunist that stand to make a bundle off the American tax-payer? Security is only as good as the people who make it for themselves. All you have to do is look at the response times after making a 911 call in this country to know how interested in security that our government truly represents to us.
Lets say we have an illegal immigrant that comes here and commits a crime. Which is more illegal, the immigration, or the crime? Anything near to perfecting logic and common sense is stupid according to the popular belief of today. That criminal should do time in our penal system and then sent home, notifying the country of origin of the crimes commited against us. If the country of origin wasn't the least bit interested in its citizenry to want to know where they are, why tell them before we send them back. I certainly know of one way to to get the attention of the country of origin. Send them a bill for the period of incarceration of their citizenry. This could lead to a whole new understanding in the world that should help the country of origin to start thinking about its population and bettering the conditions that make these people want to leave them for a better opportunity. Our companies can send them every job we have. It still will not improve the situation for the population that wants come here. Our companies only operate by their laws, which means less stringent and more opportunity for exploitation for profit. Changing nothing for the people with their own governments.
No, immigration, illegal or otherwise is just one degree of seperation from the reality of the whole compass. It is the same for just about any issue that can be spoken of. Any politician that speaks to a tragic comedy such as this is another fool.

Yes, it is one of the two most important issues our country is facing ( the other being our horrible trade policies ). Immigration is going to drag this country down to 3rd world status.

I will only vote for someone strongly against illegal immigration. I really believe we need action NOW and I don't mean the nonsense they are calling 'comprehensive immigration' which would permanently INCREASE the flow going forward.
