Folding is great if all you want is looks and a rifle you can hip shoot at beer cans with. There's no folding stock on the market that's even remotely decent as a real buttstock, though. Case in example, the ATI "ultralight"....when the stock is extended, there's absolutely zero cheek and you'll find it next to impossible to use the sights in any normal way. Add a cheek and it no longer folds.
The "T-6" is the same way. It destroys the rifle's balance, it functions marginally as a real buttstock, and it's one drop away from you cussing over a $60 chunk of broken plastic.
If all you want is a pistol grip, think about the ATI dragunov-type stock. You won't be disappointed and you won't have to count 922 parts.

Putting a pistol grip on your SKS could find you in violation of Federal firearm laws....and potentially wind you up in prison.
You need to be very, very careful here.....the laws are ambiguous and open to interpretation.
DO NOT TRUST ADVICE ON THIS TOPIC HERE!
"
FOLDING OR COLLAPSIBLE STOCKS: An imported Simonov with a folding stock is illegal to possess. A U.S. made SKS with folding stock and accepts detachable magazines is illegal. A U.S. made SKS with a FIXED magazine and folding stock is entirely legal to possess if suitable for sporting purposes."
http://www.simonov.net/uberlaw.htm
Note that it is NOT illegal to MAKE or SELL these stocks....but it may be to actually put it on your firearm.
That said, I have shot folding stocks SKS and they make the weapon relatively worthless past very close range....like 25 yards in my opinion. Extended they are wobbly and folded they reduce your contact from three points (hand, hand, shoulder) to two points (hand, hand) ....much like a handgun.

DJs information is out dated, the ban that some of his information pertains to expired in september of 2004. The only thing that you need to worry about is you state laws, and section 922r which states that you cannot have more that 10 foriegn parts in a rifle in a "non-sporting" configuration.
For more information you might want to check out a SKS Message Board like this one I googled http://www.sksboards.com/smf/
They can probably give you the exact parts count of the rifle and what parts are easy to change.

I like the telescoping stocks because they truely make a rifle one size fits all. And I am considering getting a complete set from Tapco.
Check it out.

Dude, the Assault weapons ban sunset two years ago did not affect the SKS and putting a folder on them. You can STILL get into a lot of trouble for it...
Why are no russian or Chinese SKSs imported today? BECAUSE THEY ARE CURRENTLY BANNED!
Take the advice above from the guy that said basically don't listen to these idiots....

I have the telescoping on mine, made it REALLY front heavy. Cabellas has a pretty good selection. Best to check with either an FFL or law enforcement office to see if it's legal in your jurisdiction.
