Whenever I made a joke or whatever, regarding religious jokes, puns or simply word plays, people gave me lenghty answers and explaination, as if I care. I mean come on, it was a joke, who puts logic into jokes?

For example, my friends joke about Jesus:

There was this woman who was about to be stoned to death, then Jesus came and said "let he without sin stone her first", then a stone dropped from the sky and hit that woman on the head. "Aaw come on Dad, I was trying to make a point." Jesus said.

And BAM, suddenly verses and verses of the bible and it's intrepretation were given.

Same goes when you try an atheist joke.

Why do people think I'm joking when I'm not and take me seriously when I'm joking?

Hmmm, calamari rings or onion rings?

I think it's because in this section, people hear too many things said against their chosen beliefs or lack thereof. Then, when a joke is cracked, they take it seriously, rather than letting it lighten the mood.

That was a funny joke, about the stone falling from heaven, lol.

Calimari rings sound GREAT. Yum!

Maybe because religion is the worst joke humanity ever played on itself, and is so desperately in need of humor that it can't recognize it any more.

Jesus taught humility (they say) but that seems to have been lost on every Christian that ever lived. A few Monty Python movies would set them straight, though (Armaments, Chapter 7, Verse 13: O Lord, we pray thee to use the Holy Hand Grenade to blow our enemies into tiny bits. Amen.").

Because when it all comes down to it, there are three things you should never joke about in public: religion, race, and politics.

Onion rings, by the way.

I remember telling that joke on this site and had my question reported, people just don't like jokes on this site and I think we need christian jokes to lighten the mood

Edit

Some people take their religion - and themselves - far too seriously, Aida. If you are not sure about something and want to believe it, the easiest thing to do is to get someone else to join you. Spread the blame, so to speak. Then you must fight like Hell (deliberate capital) to get your point across, and protect your point of view.
Adolf Hitler said (in German, of course) "If the lie is big enough, you tell it often enough, and loud enough, eventually everyone will believe it."

Calamari for me, please, with wedges and LSC and SCS

Oh I HATE it when people try to "correct" you when you are just telling a joke! That is very annoying. I understand your frustration.

I guess since religion is such a hot topic, they just want to take every chance they can get to preach a message that they feel is important.

neither, but if I had to choose - onion rings.

Edit -
I forgot to mention that I liked the joke! Good one!

Beats me. I reckon they don't have a good sense of humor.

Too bad I've never seen you do a joke about my religion though. ;-) I bet it would be funny, most all of your jokes are.

I vote for Calamari rings.

Many people take their religion seriously -- in my opinion, much too seriously. Life is too cruel to bear without lightening things with the odd joke.
