This item was popular in the 60s and early 70s and likely the late 50s. It had a light to medium blue (almost a sky blue) wrapper with the text written in white, though there is a slight possibilty that the text was in black. It was some type of black licorice flavored candy. My dad ate it when he was a kid. He hates most candy now but once, ten or so years ago, they came out with a short nostalgic revival of this candy. I have a memory of him with it in his hand. I want to find that candy for him, for a birthday gift basket. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I'm asking the wrong crowd but I thought I would try.

It may have been Black Jack, but my memory wants me to believe it was a candy not a gum. Memory is a difficult thing. I just don't think I'm going to win with this particular one. Also, I believe the letter J was involved. I really don't believe it is black jack!

It sounds more like the licorice chewing gum we ate back in the 50's called Blackjack. It came in a sky blue pack and you could never just chew one piece. We also had Clove chewing gum that was pretty good too!
