Put in the name of the breed that you want, along with your own postal code or name of city. Do a yahoo search, and get your dog from a breeder. Pet shops mostly sell pups that are bred by puppy farms, and are riddled with health problems.
Or put in the name of your city and the word 'rescue' .You will be likely to find a nice dog already trained and suitable for a flat.

Don't support a pet store by buying their animals - you're keeping puppy mills and backyard breeders in busines that way. If you must have a purebred then do some research and find a reputable, responsbile breeder. Even better than that, resuce a dog from your humane society or a resuce group. You'd be surprised how many purebreds out there need a second chance at life. There are rescue groups for almost every breed of dog.

Never, ever buy a puppy from a pet store. They are often puppy mill dogs, and they have alot of problems. If you absolutely have to have a pure bred look for a reputable breeder, online is good. Also go visit the breeding location to check out cleanliness etc. You want to meet the dog to make sure he will fit your family. If you're not dead set on a purebred, save a dog from the pound, you won't regret it. Good luck

Don't use petshops, it only makes the puppy mills worse, and there is NO guarantee they are even purebred.
Find a reputable breeder. Buy directly from them, after you've been to their facility and seen the conditions and are satisfied. Or better yet go to a shelter (unless you have intention of breeding with them) and adopt a daschie in dire need of a loving home, it's a far kinder idea then buying one from a petshop and realising that by doing that, every day more and more animals are destroyed.

A mini daschie is fine, but any dog would need regular walks outside.

Rescue a dog from the humane society before it is euthanized against it's best wishes.

All dogs are beautiful, giving far more than they will ever receive.

Pure breds is pure nonsense; man improving on God's work. Dachshunds are not happy being too short to run with the other dogs, and they can't jump very good. They are too brave for their own good........like not afraid of anything. Their back is so long there is never anything to support the middle of their spine unless they lie down, so their back hurts and gives them problems -- problems they don't need.

Try searching for a Pet Finder website, look for a local rescue for the breed that you're looking for or look for a breeder usually advertised in the local newspaper. Pet stores carry puppy mill dogs and they are usually riddled with health problems because the female dog has been bred over and over and over, they also are harder to house break with a crate as they are used to having to go to the bathroom in a kennel.

Pet shops should only be used for leashes, collars and other supplies, not for the purchase of a puppy.

They get their puppies from Puppymills and Commercial breeders that have no regard for the health of their breeding dogs or the pups they produce.

Find a reptuable breeder.

You might try contacting the Daschund Club of America..
they should have links to their rescue people, and you
just might find one who'd love to make a home with you.

Couldn't agree more, NEVER purchase a puppy from
a petshop.

Don't give your hard earned money to those lowlifes!! Pet shops promote BAD breeders who keep their dogs in deplorable conditions. Most are sick and kept in confined cages for their entire "breeding life" until they are no longer able to reproduce. Then they are murdered because they no longer are able to earn their keep.

The money you spend buying from a responsible breeder usually ends up being far less than paying thousands of dollars in vet bills because the puppy ends up being sick.

Do a search for reputable breeders. Go to dog shows and ask for recommendations from others!

NEVER buy puppies from pet shops. They come from horrible places called puppy mills. If you live in the US, go to http://www.petfinder.com and put in the breed that you want (DACHSHUND) and your state/zip code and look at the lovely dogs there that need forever and loving homes.
