What should airline do to lower their cost?

I don't think that airlines should lower their costs. They seem to keep cutting costs in every category from squishing seats together, cramming planes full, using smaller planes, having less staff, and working their staff more.

I have no interest in being a passenger on "Jack and Dick's Cut Rate Airline."

There are lots of ways to save money, and I don't think that airlines should just throw money around, but they're way beyond that. With around 180 passengers on an average flight, I wouldn't mind paying an extra ten bucks (bringing in $1,800) to hire a few more baggage handlers and gate attendants, to have an extra couple of mechanics to review the plane, and to have my lunch back for the flight without having to pay extra.

No, I don't think that airlines should necessarily lower their costs. Flying, generally speaking, is cheap as it is. Oh, sure there are some long flights at "the last minute" that are expensive, but last-minute flights always will be.

I'd rather pay ten bucks more and get better service. I'd even go as high as twenty-five, but don't tell them that in the beginning.

I think all the airlines are already doing a fair job in terms of offering cheap price - its those taxes which forces them to raise the prices...

The govt should be blamed for it...

They should allow people to fly at the last minute-at reduced fares, so as to fill up their planes-that way more people (the impulsive/spontaneous) would fly and planes would always be full-so airlines would get more revenue.

Stop offering food.
Stop serving big crowded airports.
Unify their fleet.
Get rid of unions.
Offer only point to point flights.
Good, efficient management.
Polite, well trained, friendly crew.
