Becasue people like their comfort zone. If you start questioning they will be forced to think about things and confront 'truths' that they deep down know will not stand up to scrutiny. People don;t value truth, they value confort and security and, hence, like to be part of a group. And that can require sheeplike mental processes.
Doesn't mean the questioner is right, and groupthink can affect any group, including those opposing wars. It's just basic human psychology.

There is a difference between protesting and degrading our military. There is a difference between intelligent speaking and ignorant ravings.
It's too bad that we only see the ignorant ones degrading our military.

There is a right way and a wrong way to speak out during war. burning our flag to let the fanatics know they have support in our own country is the wrong way. perhaps mentally slower people should not speak out until they have education and learned what life on earth is really like.

It is certainly not illegal. Stupid maybe but that is why our boys are fighting and bleeding. So that you and they have the right to protest.
I have no respect and downright animosity toward anyone that even thinks badly of our troops.
The leadership is another question!!
