stumble in to the ER holding your side saying "i got in an accident today and i think i broke my liver"
other than that, get enough to fix the car, nothing more, or i will punch you for contributing to high cost insurance. hopefully you got a ticket for no insurance.

You're entitled to be made whole for your losses, not to make a profit over an accident. What will it cost, realistically, to put your vehicle back as it was? If that's less than the worth of the vehicle, you will get that. If it's more than the worth of the vehicle, you will get the worth of the vehicle and the insurance will take it away. Discuss a fair settlement with your insurance, who will then represent your interest to the other, at fault, insurance company.

Usually, a rear-end collision is not your fault and you should be 100% covered. Did you file a police report and contact your insurance company yet? Did you get the information from the other vehicle?

its day of accident and your already asking "how can i get more money?" - how do you even know you will be ripped off? Are you one of those people who think the world is after them?

Simple.. you have insurance do an estimate on your car... and determine and its totalled or repairable. IF repairable- they will deal with the body shop regarding supplements.. its not gonna affect you. If totalled... they will give you actual cash value of yoru car... if for some reason you dont think its fair... kindly explain to them why.

and you may wanna lose the attitude.. and the "out to get me" mindset... its not gonna help you any

They're reaming you because you're dealing with them directly. Why are you doing that? You're not an insurance adjustor.

You should be dealing with YOUR insurance company. Who should recommend some shops who will fix your car fully. Then your insurance company will go after their insurance company for the repair, and they'll settle it in their ordinary way.

If you MUST do it yourself, call one of that company's local office and ask them to recommend some local shops. Take your car to 3 of those shops and get estimates. Take the lowest estimate and sue em for it! They have a contract with that shop, where they send the shop a lot of business in exchange for getting a much reduced rate on repairs they send. As soon as they realize they're about to pay list price for a repair at one of their contract shops, they'll come around.
