Do we just wander around plucking harps and polishing our halos or is there something more? I don't know about you, but I would get kind of bored wandering around like that for eternity.

And for the record, I AM a faithful church-goer, so please no "convert the heathen" answers and please no rude, snarky answers either. It's just something I've been thinking about....

You can imagine yourself about the look of paradise. Heaven is a paradise place. There you do not need to eat, to drink, to work for food to gamble, to steal for your food, to kill and you will just live there happily and eternally with God and if that will happen in the near future, it is the end of this world or end of the earth.

This things was written by the prophets in the bible.

Heaven is a very busy place! Those who are chosen to go there have Very Weighty responsibilities. That is where God's Kingdom ruled by His enthroned Messiah abides, and from there, they will bring the earth & the rest off humanity back to perfection, as was originally intended.

You aren't the only one that doesn't look forward to leaving the earth. That's OK. Few (by comparison) are assigned to. Not any one was Originally meant to ...

What Is the Kingdom of God? :
1 Where is it located?
2 Who is its King?
3 Do others share in ruling with the King?

1. The great and high wall seems to indicate security, a picture of absolute and perfect security, "and of their complete and unassailable fellowship with God"
2. The city is described as having the brilliance, radiance, sparkling and flashing quality of a cystral-clear stone like jasper. The sheen and the radiance which rested and played over all the city was like the glitter of a jasper stone, "transparent and gleaming as rock-crystal"
3. The city is revealed as a great cube, 1500 miles in length, breadth and height. This may remind us of the holy of holies in the tabernacle which was 10 by 10 by 10 cubits. 1500 miles is about 250 times taller than Mt. Everest. The entire area of Palestine could not contain even one side of it. What this says to me is that there is plenty of room in heaven for all, the way is narrow not because God wants a small family, but because few are willing do what is right. An earthly city of this size would almost stretch from London to New York.
4. Jesus pictured the righteous as reclining at table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
5. In heaven there will be no more dealing with difficult people, "and nothing unclean and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it"
6. You have sex with a wife.
7. Everyone will be in the prime of there life, we dont know the age, mid 20s? no old age
6. Peace and neverending happiness.
7. Heaven is truly a place in which all self-imposed obstacles have been removed. Just think of the possibilities! A place where you can really reach your ultimate potential for goodness, happiness, righteousness, and so on!
8. No illnesses.
9.The old order which had the holy city Jerusalem, the new heavens and earth has a holy city
10. An environment free from sin, deception, intrigue or corruption.
11. The gates and the angels seem to indicate divinely appointed access, but only for those whom God authorizes
12. God desires people from every race and nation to be saved.
13. Twelve foundation stones indicate something which cannot be shaken, its reality was preached by the personal ambassadors of Jesus Christ. One must accept the teachings of the apostles to enter this city.
14. "With gates bearing the names of the twelve tribes and the foundation stones bearing the names of the twelve apostles, the churches (people of God) of the Old and New covenants are thus united into one, bringing all the redeemed into one eternal home"
15."The city itself was pure gold, but gold which is unfamiliar to you. 16. This city has a street, which suggests movement, mobility, and that heaven isn't a place of inactivity or boredom. Gold which is considered as priceless in this world, is street paving material in heaven.s, for it too sparkled as pure polished glass"
17. The never closing gates may be telling us that right now, there are universal and continual opportunities which are being offered to one day be a part of this city. Access is so simple! (2 Peter 1:5-11; John 14:6). Heaven will contain the best people from every culture, time period, and nation, who decided to use their talents, time and abilities for God (Romans 12:6-8; Matthew 25:14,21). But there is a warning, the person who rejects God's moral standards will be excluded.

Hello sister! I love this question as this is something I think about alot as well :) Please take a look at Revelation 21 which I think is the most lovely description of what Heaven will be like(check out the link for the full passage)

- Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.. so heaven will be a place in some way like our current earth and heaven, but different. So this earth will pass away and a new earth will be created.

- Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.... so God will live intimately close with us - we will be able to ask God anything at any time :)

- He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. - No more pain, nothing to be ashamed or scared or sad about - nothing to cause us awkwardness or distress

- But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. - no one will be admitted to heaven who insists on causing pain and deception and evil. God will cleanse those who want to be cleansed and banish those who want to do wrong so they cannot destroy paradise

- It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. - Heaven will be beautiful and glorious and wondrous, and filled with new delights and new discoveries of beauty every day :)

I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Sounds awesome no?

Other things to think about: we will have glorified bodies like Jesus had after his resurrection - we will probably be able to walk through walls and travel great distances in the blink of an eye just like Jesus did after he was resurrected.

We will "know fully even as we are fully known" - 1 Cor 13 - we will have intimate, fully knowledge of God and each other, there will no longer be misunderstanding, but only pure love between people.

Hope this helps :) And if we meet each other there, let's hug :D

Yeah, we've all been thinking about it.
The greatest threat I see is boredom. But that wouldn't be heaven would it? So I imagine to get rid of boredom(without altering our minds and personality) there would be many "scenarios" to play, all depending on who you are. Like living again. Or other stuff totally unimaginable.
I am really against a heaven where the requirement is to change the mechanics in your brain(like snipping the need to be active instinct hormone) or increasing your amphetamine output to make you feel content and at pleasure forever.
I'd rather be myself.

Existing forever would end up being the worst fate imaginable. No matter how wonderful people make heaven seem...think about it for a second, what happens after you have done everything there is to do? What happens after you have learned all there is to learn? Had every experience and thought you could every have? Then what? All those things are finite and eternity is infinite.

Your issue is that you are using mere human thoughts and imagination to evaluate GODS creation!

Try explaining how a sperm cell and a female ovum should develop into a human being!

This description must entail detail growth and function of all organs, cells, nerves, and their interaction with all other cells and functions, hows and whys as well as where the plans all came from!

This request does not pose issues to you does it? And you want to describe HEAVEN?

hmm. i did a project on this a while back.. I remember reading about it, in the Bible, of course, and it said something about the streets being paved with jewels and gold, but who knows? Maybe they're better, and that's all our minds can grasp as amazing. I think heaven is too amazing that we can't even imagine it!

I feel it in my heart that heaven is a place where you will no longer fear nor cry. Heaven is what we can call home. The bible says that one day we will reunite with God, and praise him always. I would love to be in his presence praising him always, because its the only time I don't care about anything nor problems of the world. Its just you and him.

The streets are paved with gold. Every one goes stark naked. The mornings are reserved for praising God with Hallelujahs and all. But the afternoons you get to have sex with the most beautiful angels and boy does the feathers fly. Then for supper we have hot wings.
