Wallpaper/ mural of world map?

Question

One of my passions in life is to travel. To pay homage to this passion, I want to wallpaper my room with a picture of a world map or paint a mural of a world map. Any ideas? I want a vintage-y feel.

you could try painting the wall a nice ecru, then get a projector, like they have in elementary school classrooms, and trace old maps onto the walls, and trace the boarders. cover the boarders with really thin painter's tape (1/4 inch)

i would skip the sealer for the painter's tape, and add tints to your ecru paint, red, blue, green, for the different color countries.

remove the tape and trace with dark brown paint, using a 5/8" angled brush.

my boyfriend is irish, and i want to do something similar in the office, when we have a home, with framed maps of ireland on a medium green background

flags from the places you travel to could be a good option too.

try google for pirate maps... help u to get the style and decoration of mountains and rivers etc..... but please don't paint on the wall.... paint on a canvas/ply board and fix it on the wall with nice looking frame......after few years your children/wife or your self may get bored...
