You can avoid or control most acne with good basic skin care and the following self-care techniques:
Wash problem areas with a gentle cleanser. Products such as facial scrubs, astringents and masks generally aren't recommended because they tend to irritate skin, which can aggravate acne. Excessive washing and scrubbing also can irritate skin. If you tend to develop acne around your hairline, shampoo your hair frequently.
Try over-the-counter acne lotion to dry excess oil and promote peeling. Look for products containing benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol or salicylic acid as the active ingredient.
Avoid irritants. You may want to avoid oily or greasy cosmetics, sunscreens, hair-styling products or acne concealers. Use products labeled "water-based" or "noncomedogenic." For some people, the sun worsens acne. Additionally, some acne medications can make you more susceptible to the sun's rays. Check with your doctor to see if your medication is one of these, and if so, stay out of the sun as much as possible and any time you have to be in the sun, use sunscreen that doesn't clog your pores.
Watch what touches your face. Keep your hair clean and off your face. Also avoid resting your hands or objects such as telephone receivers on your face. Tight clothing or hats also can pose a problem, especially if you'll be sweating. Sweat, dirt and oils can contribute to acne.
Don't pick or squeeze blemishes. Picking or squeezing can cause infection or scarring. Most acne will clear up without this kind of intervention. If you need aggressive treatment, see your doctor or dermatologist.

Home remedies for pimples abound, but the term must be clearly understood. An effective home remedy for anything can and should transcend the usual image of messy poultices whipped up from exotic vegetables in the kitchen blender. There is no limit to inventiveness on this one: potatoes, basil, garlic, vinegar, lemon and lime juice and even toothpaste have all been tried. Various levels of success have also been claimed. Basically, anything that does not involve prescription medicine or surgery and can be safely utilized without medical supervision is considered a home remedy.
To this end, there are certain domestic therapies that have proved very effective in controlling pimples. Sunbathing is one of them (a more refined version is an ultraviolet lamp, but overuse of this apparatus can result in complications, especially if certain medicines are being taken). Sunbathing is a long-term measure and must be incorporated into one’s regular schedule to be effective. Also, the affected skin must be cleansed of all topical applications such as medicinal creams and makeup before sunbathing.
Tea tree oil has recently found increased favor with certain dermatologists and can be safely used at home. Whether its use in aromatherapy is as beneficial as direct application is debatable, but topical application is now highly recommended. However, it must be borne in mind that tea tree oil causes the secretion of extra sebum, and skin must be washed scrupulously after a certain time.
There appears to be medical evidence that clove oil and fenugreek are of some actual benefit in controlling pimples. Aloe vera gel has also been found effective. However, it must not be assumed that the above substances can be used without side effects; always consult a dermatologist before using any home remedy.

Never use all that is advertised in TVs and News Papers. Use natural and local items to wash the face like using basin ( the flour of chena dhall) or Moong dhall mixed with the powder of ( tender) turmeric root . Oily face is good since you will look very young even when you become old unlike dry skins which become older when young. Wash the face as many times as possible. You can also use a mild soap. Massage coconut oil on the face every day befor bath and wash away. You will look as fresh as Jasmine and smell nicely too. Your Husband ( if you are woman ) will love U so much.

Good old toothpaste. Leave it on the pimple overnight and the next morning it will be all dried up or something like that. It makes pimples go down.

I recently read on how to quickly make them disappear. Take an aspirin, crush it to a powder. Add a drop or 2 of Lemon juice to form a paste and apply. The acid in the juice and something in the aspirin (forgot) will make it disappear really fast. Worth a try....good luck.
